Here is a newer demo: http://craig.gp2x.de/PaybackdemoMay2nd.zip

It is twice as fast as the last one and adds headlights.

Here is a very early rolling demo of payback for the GP2X.

It has 4x antialias turned on and it should be pointed out this isn't the final version of the engine, but since everyone was asking to see something commercial here it is.

The final version will be faster, full sound, use both cpus (plus option to overclock) and most likely run on raw hardware.

About half way thought he gets the green sports car, that bit is quite cool.

Enjoy.

it the game presented by evildragon on the GIGA TV.

It's likje GTA 1&2 on PC and the original game has been created on AMIGA and it has been disponible on GBA.

If it willl be disponible in commercial game for the GP2x i will buy it :D

game looks really good, shame about the shit music :D
has a price, and how they are released been settled on for commercial games yet?

Nope, it was my fault, you posted in general and i moved it in the wrong news forum, sorry for that.
Time to sleep i gues:)

looks great
I like the part with the jumping.. would be cool if it comes with a level editor where you can make some stunt maps :D

I like. reminds me more of GTA3 using the top down perspective option than GTAI&2. Wonder why they chose 3d instead of just pure sprites?
Anyway, this is on my buy list. I intend to purchase at least one commercial game to support the platform.

Any idea on price or distribution method?

Wow... barring a slight lack of differences in textures, this looks absolutely fantastic. Definitely something I'll buy once it comes out, if only to have a commercial game on the 2x :)

I wonder how "open" commercial developers will handle their games, even tough I would certainly pay for such "proprietary" games I would like to know if they release editors and allow modding, because this would certainly rock!

EDIT: The video looks cool, but I hope they fix these braking-traces, they look quite black and big right now ;D... the video is pretty long btw :D

screenshots?

What do you need screenshots on a rolling demo you can run on the 2X?

Or for those who are to lazy... na actually I was busy installing the 2.0 FW.

Btw @CragiX: Any reason it uses 4x antiallising? Doesn't that mean the same screen gets rendered 4x just to smooth out pixilated edges? That seems like a aweful way to waste the limited resources of the GP2x

The reason for 4x antiallising is so it looks awesome, I could not find like any individual pixels or "Jagedies".

I am so happy he is porting this, I was nagging JRD to port it in like November. I have to wonder what pushed him over the edge.

So awesome! I wish my GP2X would return (it got bricked, beyond fix so Im having it replaced) soon so I can try this.
