Usually digital camera-recorded videos are crap. Better wait for someone with TV-out and video capture to do that.

I have video out and TV capture. Let me know if you need any help capturing some videos.

If you need a website I might be able to hook you up with a really nice iWeb website, while it is not the most high tech of all it looks great. Don't know if it is quite what you are looking for, if you have no clue what iWeb looks like check out a little here

Wow, I got A LOT of responses for requests for the video / betaing...I need to figure out how to handle this.

I basically wanted a video of Wipeout just cause it looked cool. :p
The version the video would be of would be fairly slow since it uses the original GPU (not Unai's), no recompiler, etc...Just really need one person with Wipeout 1 (not XL), and if possible a TV OUT/VIDEO CAPTURE for recording. I tested FF7 with this version, and it looks better, runs smoother, but doesnt appear faster. Think of it as being as fast, but smoother since it's drawing in the missing frames that were being skipped over. A video of FF7 could be taken, but it's probably not as impressive?

Once Unai get's his GPU ready, I'll begin a private beta, which will probably be leaked anyways and made public. :p
I'd like the private beta to consist of current donators and long-time users (aka people still posting to this thread after a lack of release for many months ;) ). Once the beta is smoothed over, I'll make an official release for the sites to report.

Update on stuff:
- I got sound working on the GP2X version again, maybe it will be included depending on how the beta goes.
- I also have internal overclocking of the GP2X enabled. It now automatically OCs the GP2X to 250MHz when started. I figured 250MHz is high enough to see speed increases, and low enough not to cause problems. If 266MHz can be handled by everyone, let me know.
- Still no menu system. I'd like to get that in there by beta time.

So those with TV OUT / TV Capture cards who can do videos of GP2X stuff, can you make a Wipeout 1 video, FF7 video, FF Tactics, Einhander...something impressive looking? Basically, find a game that looks cool with an alpha version of GP2PSX? It will run fairly slow though, just a warning. :p

The beta will be out before the week is over. I'm hoping in 2 more days. I also want to get the go ahead from Unai. I just feel I need to get a version out to you guys so you can see some progress we've been making. Plus it will help make the release version better.

My 2x crashes at 266mhz, so don't do that. it also occasionally freezes at anything over 230 so the mandatory overclocking isnt a great idea for everyone. (got an almost perfect screen, no scanlines or nothing, but i get the weakest processor :p great.)

i'll make some vids with my digicam. i can get pretty good quality in the right light but anyone else feel free to make some with capture cards whatever they are.

I have an S-video port on the back of my laptop, the 2X's black wire fits in nicely, is this a video capture port/card thing? if so, where would i find drivers or a program to record through it?

That's more likely to be an output than anything else. Quite a few laptops have those...

One thing I've noticed with S-VIDEOesque slots is that they're actually the same shape and pin number as the ports used for keyboards. So it's conceivable that it's one of those too... certainly I've made that mistake on a few lappys :(

Sounds good, Zodttd. I would go ahead and leave the auto-overclock out, and if we want the processor operating at the higher speed, scripts are our friends.

As for testing, I have five games: Final Fantasy 7, 8, 9, Chocobo's Racing, and Ehrgeiz, however, no tv-out, so I can only do shaky cam.

I have a rather professional shaky webcam studio. One thing I notice is that when you focus closely to the gp2x the scanlines are shown very easily. They come up in flashing colors as well, which is very annoying.

Because of this I have to reduce the focus so I dont get such a sharp image.

I have the original wipeout and ff7 already ripped. I'll have to search through my old CD collection to find others to test. I have a tv out and a video capture card. I have never tested it with my gp2x to test the quality...maybe I'll check to see how well it works this afternoon :p

Ok, talked to Unai. He wants to get some features working on the GPU before the beta is released. So we set the beta release date to the 13th. Yes, another delay. Beta should last around a week, assuming that depends on how well the beta fairs.

At least there's a set timeframe now though.

Thanks for the update. I don't think anyone will mind the extra wait...we all know it's worth the wait ;)

Will that be public then? xD
