everyone said PSX would be impossible past 2 fps..and by the looks of it were going to actually get playable PSX...when will people learn to stop being so pessimistic and trust in the developers and the gp2x? its like everyone is trying to put it down before they give it a chance
I think most developers would prefer it if we had low expectations.

Uhh I guess I did not elaborate I am just wondering if it is possible.
Yes, it is possible. However, possible does NOT mean it will happen. The only guaranteed way to make it happen is to do it yourself. Most developers program what THEY want to program. Also, many developers don't want to do it because they don't want legal trouble or they disagree with it ethically. And really, don't start a new topic when there are already about 20 of these in the last week, just look around (or use the "search" function everyone seems to forget) and I'm sure you'll find your answer. And if you don't you could ask your question on one of the already existing gba emulation threads.

GBA Micro and SP are reasonably cheap, and you can even get the original GBA on eBay for under £30 now. If you need any more help ask at your local branch of Game...

legal trouble? give it a break already, emulators dont break the law its the people who use them and download illegal roms, even then i seriously doubt nintendo are going to do anything, theres tons of gba emus for the pc already.

Think Sony <> Bleem.

That is because Bleem was selling it in stores. If someone makes a HB emu and gives it away there really isn't much they can do. Like was said there are GBA emus for the PC and the big N can't do anything about it.

Nintendo don't care about emulators for the PC, but they do care about emulating there stuff on a portable handheld, as that clearly takes sales away from them. (and no, Laptops are not classified as a handheld).

I don't think we should even try to emulate the GBA. Emulating consoles that are still selling is pretty dodgy, and can't really be passed off as "retro gaming".

My advice, if you like gameboy advance games, buy a gameboy advance. SPs must be going pretty cheap now that the micro is out.
Well, I think this sum it all. 99% of people that are asking for a gba emu are just some sort of thiefs (the 1% left are just techno geeks :))

I think we'd all like to see GBA, though. Correct me if I'm wrong, but nobody has ever said they didn't want it to happen. I'm personally a big fan, and my gp2x replaced my micro. (because I'm not such a dork that I need to carry around *two* handhelds  )

I'm not going to lose sleep over not having gba emulation or anything, but there are hundreds of good games only for it. Huge numbers of good RPGs and, oddly, racing games. I think history will show it as the last major system to make stupid 2d-gamers like me really happy.

naturally nintendo is also known for sending legal nastygrams to emu coders. So, unfortunately, I think this would end up being a project nobody could really have their (real) name on. and if a few more nails were hammered into gba's coffin first it wouldn't hurt matters.

and here's where I open myself up to a few flames. The vast majority of gp2x users are thieves. wake up. Sure some of us own all the original carts and floppies that we use, but stripping them from their original media for unintended purposes is dark gray at best. A lot of it depends on legal questions that have (thankfully) not yet been answered (to my knowledge) such as if a proprietary cart connector counts as copy protection. All I'm saying is that the ratio of 99:1 is probably true of all 2x users, not just gba requesters.

Personally, i dont agree with the piracy issue as you've put it.

in my opintion, the difference is the support for the console. GBA game downloading and emulation at the current time is unethical, as it is still an actively supported platform. Games for it can still be bought at most games retailers, unlike SNES or Megadrive games, the consoles for which have basically been given up as dead.

Actually I'm fairly sure Bleem won their case, but it cost them a lot of money to do so.

Sony eventually managed to shut Bleem down after repeated lawsuits (can't remember if it was legal action or simply loss of funds through legal fees).

The 'who cares about old stuff?' argument is primarily held up by the fact that nobody actually does care about old stuff--but it doesn't make it legal. A while back I heard of an untested loophole in copyright law along those lines as well. I hope the person who gets caught using that argument has enough money in lawyers to fight it up through appeals court.

here's an interesting thought to ponder: company 'A' has the rights to produce Action Dude (fictional game) on computers, company 'B' has the license for consoles. If you rip a rom of company 'B's console-based Action Dude game, that you own in your personal collection, have you really ever purchased the ability to play it on an emulator residing on your computer?

please note, when I speak of law, I only have knowledge of american copyright law--and that's limited at best. Other countries probably see it very differently—though it’s probably no less confusing.

You go to Brazil, man!

They're still selling the SMS in stores there! You have no argument! And here's my proof! ;)

http://www.tectoy.com.br/ <-- The company that now owns the rights to the Sega MegaDrive and SMS.

I'm not talking about morality. I'm telling him he can't use "it's still actively supported" as an excuse, because so are the Genesis and the SMS.
