Firmware 1.1.0 Released On Korean Page

Just upgraded and am happy to report the following items:

>>I didn't brick my unit (phew!).
>>The screen no longer has that nasty interlace problem.
>>My 2GB SD card works (FINALLY!).
>>USB support from the PC to the GP2X via USB works without a hitch.
>>XViD files *seem* to be playing back properly now.

I'm currently running tests on battery life. I'll post a full report soon (in the meantime, however, I will say this: I've successfully watched 3 full 22-24 min episodes of Full Metal Alchemist back to back without batteries giving out yet! ^_^).

Note: the type of batteries I'm using are Energizer NiMh rechargables with a 2500mah capacity.

Overall, I'm extremely happy with this update so far!

Anyone notice fixes with the lcd?

I could be seeing the LCD improvements due to the fact that this was the first firmware update I've done with my unit; up until now I've been sticking with the original firmware.

Works fine here, The Screen looks better but still not as good as UPLL + 2 with LCD Tweaker (Still alot of scanlines)

USB still didnt work for me, Same old error in WinXP, havent exactly tried hard, Only removed all trace in Device Manager and plugged in.

They're going in the right direction.

Keep trying with the XP USB support. I had to plug in and uninstall the device driver 4 times before Windows finally accepted the GP2X.

It's not something that I really need, Find it easier to use a card reader. Would be nice to have it working though

As someone who is constantly traveling, it's nice to be able to plug in anywhere there's a computer running XP to download new items (be it music, roms, videos, etc) and transfer it directly to the GP2X..As much as I hate to say it, the GP2X and my laptop are the only two things I travel with (as far as tech goes), eliminating my portable DVD player and iPod from the mix...it's so much nicer now to not have to juggle all this tech everywhere I go!

Works fine, no scanlines, flickers still, and stick movements still dim lcd, but I think that's not a sw/fw problem... :(

The green screen still tells me the version is 1.01... :)

Then it didn't upgrade, and you have one of those defective units, as flickering should have been solved in the 1.0.1 update.

Still scanlines? Meh. How about the brightness? They said they made it brighter which was a concern because if it is made to bright it will wash out the blacks. Is the brightness too bright now? Look in t-mode on a black screen. Is it more grey than it used to be, or just as black? The very first firmware had it too bright and it caused streaking with high contrast images.

The black is still black. DaveC, upgrade.

I don't intend to make this a flamewar, but I must be vocal in my opinions at this point.

DaveC, in the little time that I have spent on these boards, you have managed to really get under my skin; it's a rare feat when anyone manages to do this in such a short time, as I am a very understanding and flexible person.

Your constant attempts to sound knowledgeable about GP32 and 2X development when you in fact seem to know very little to nothing are almost as irritable as your constant bickering and needing to find fault in everything that gets posted here. Don't you ever have anything truly positive to say? Even in your compliments I find negativity.

That's all I have to say. This doesn't mean I have any sort of grudge with or against you, DaveC. This also doesn't mean I'm going to stop posting here, as I will rarely allow things to keep me from enjoying overall very positive experiences. I just had to get this off my chest.

The info screen says it is 1.10. :) And, the scanlines, which were present earlier are gone. Though, was it supposed to do something as the unit was turned on after putting the files to my SD? I just ran the program...

Though, I do think the stick-pressure-dimming-thingy is a defect... Possibly easily fixable, but requires opening the unit.

But, no point sending it back during holidays. Just freezes up in some warehouse.

NONONONONONONO

You must see the Firmware Upgrading, then you run the program. Oh god. You messed up your unit.

And since I do not have tv-out cable, I'm not too worried. :) Seems to work well.

Didn't see anything of the sorts... And the machine still works. :)

But I'm curious, was I supposed to unzip the .rar-file? I did so, dumped the contents to the SD's root, then just plopped it it in, turned on the power... Nothing happened. So I ran the update program. Scanlines vanished. Yay!
