Gizmondo Homebrew Bounty

Sad? It's as funny as a sad clown (I'm not sure how funny that is). Gizmondo can die for all I care. The concept of the thing is horrible. How they're packaging the thing is horrible (Adware????). It's ugly as sin.

Ugh.

the Jizmondo looks like crap. and that built in battery... uhh yuck!

ADware on my handehld console what a joke.

I fortell the first thing that happens when they hack into the JIz is to remove the Adware from the low price console.

that will make alot more people buy it.

Sh1t. giz will die the way of the Nghayge.

I'd love to read that post, but for some reason I cannot access the gizmondoforums site. It seems I'm banned from a site I don't even have an account at.

I've read it though a proxy, very very funny site, average age 11.

I had read the 'tommi' post before (15 pages of fun there), where he claims he can make homebrew work, but the whole forum is much the same, a load of clueless fools telling lies.

I especially love the linux on gizmondo one.

Oh dear, i am getting nasty.

Yeah, when I first heard about the adware thing I thought it was just a bad joke... turns out it's true, which I find to be absolutely shocking... who in hell wants a console that'll force play adverts 3 times a day? OK, so that'll get you a price reduction but it's still stupid... And from where I'm standing it looks a shitty product ANYWAY... and also, that design is a joke.

Brilliant "shrek ear" type shoulder buttons. And that N-Gage type "wavy" D-Pad? Inspired! And whoever would have thought of placing a lot of pencil-like buttons right above the screen would ROCK SO HARD?

Not me... It looks like they've cobbled the cases from various other machines- handhelds, mobile phones, palm PCs... whatever they could find.

It's kind of a shame really. There's no denying that the unit has got some decent power, but there are few particularly good commercial games there (well, from my cursory glance at the official site games page anyway), AND there seems to be little/no homebrew on it (judging from the post that this thread is based on).

Yeah, and, and, like, and....er, who would want to watch programmes on a tv channel that FORCED you to sit through adverts. hey Hey HHEEEYYYY???

Answer that one, you dolts!

Ain't never seen a giz, but people who have say good things. And the new system is incredibly specced! Really, look on the web (can't be bothered to do it for you cos you are all so silly!), but if I remember it had a 500mz processer, a pretty powerful nvidia graphic card etc. Plus a big screen and lots of bells and whistles.

Don't dish before you know, children.

Ha, got you know!!!!

Yep, I would watch ads on the tv if I watched it... BUT I don't. I would Hear Ads on the Radio if I listened to that too... But I don't. I would care about the specs if it was a decent Handheld.. But it isn't... and so I don't care... Its too ugly to show in public (GIZ).

I have just been on the phone to ITV, told them that Speedymikey refuses to watch their programmes because of the adverts. They agreed with me that despite them having an audience of around 15 million other people, all happy to watch programmes that are paid for by advertising, they are going to close down immediately. Seems that old NippyMikeyboy here has hit the nail on the head, because HE refuses to watch telly funded by adverts (and thereby free to us) there is no point going on.

Everything must be free. We shouldn't really have to pay for the console at all! But as we have done, the games should be freely available online. If not, then crack the damn thing till we can!

Damn you children with your pocket money earmarked for booze and ciggies! You'll kill the games market. Doom I say, DOOM!

asking people to buy a machine that forces em to watch adverts? they must be off whatever passes for their tiny minds, as for lubidogs comments, I personaly own a Tivo, I don`t see adverts any more, don`t watch live tv even 95% of the time, just skip through adverts at warp factor 16x and most of what I watch was recorded days or weeks ago, I have all the music I want on CD, a huge DVD collection, why the hell would someone think I am going to actualy pay to watch adverts <DUH!>, wake up!, this is the dawn of the 21st century, the Media revolution is upon us with a capital M, the day of fat cat overpriced media is fading, they even proved themselves to be self interested liars with the old

"DVD is so expensive cos we have to make these expensive disks and burn em and print on em and put em in a case and print the label and distribute them and give the retailer a cut or we can`t make a living"

argument, so they regionalise em so that can sell em at the highest possible price per region with no or little risk of cheaper disks from over the border getting on the higher priced market, then you go down the supermarket and buy a DVD for £1.50p and yes it comes on a disk, yes it has a case, yes it has a sleeve, yes the store selling it is making a profit off it ("supermarket" is not a synonym for "charity"), but it costs £1.50p, not £15.00p, production-wise it is exactly the same thing, so who`s telling porkys?, and don`t give me that "it`s an old film and out of copyright" argument, most films make their profit in the first few weeks of release, once they have had a year doing the rounds they have enough money to make another with change to spare, store sales are just a continuing rip-off they have come to expect to be theirs by right, I wouldn`t mind if they charged fair prices (£4 or £5), but £14 profit per unit is taking the Mickey.

Mentor.

You make me Laugh  I don't drink or smoke either... Let's just say that I don't have much money in general... You have to admit when you google something and you click and then there is a freaking huge advert and then in the corner it says click to continue to see page. Another example that erks me is my paypal account when I sign in it has this stupid Ad for some service that I have to see before I get into my account. It just wastes my time... People complain about boot time and I assume an ad would show when you start it up, not during game play, thus adding to the boot time.Well, anyways whatever floats people's boats...

*sigh*

The point is, doltins, that just because YOU don't watch adverts, a couple of other people do. Is that too hard to understand? And they are happy to watch them because they get their Coronation street for FREE (it's paid for by the adverts, the adverts pay for it. Do you see? It doesn't magically appear, it has to be paid for, and it IS paid for by the adverts. It's the adverts you see/ The adverts. Those adverts...)

Now, Mentor, you mentallist, imagine if EVERYONE did as you do ("Duh" what an intelligent comment that was, because of course I should have known about your lavish lifestyle (DUH)), and did the obvious and managed to avoid adverts. Now, and think very hard indeed here kids, what do you think the ADVERTISERS would think...?

Have you got it? Yes, that's right. They would be very happy to keep paying for you to have your television for free. They work for charity, you see. They would say "Nobody watches our adverts, but Hey? Let's make 'em anyway and pay the TV companies to make their Soap Operas. Cos that's how life is" (DUH fucking Duh).

Oh, of course, you don't really watch telly at all, you watch DVDs, bought cheap off t'interpipe. Well, that's fine! But again, how much revenue is made for these films through advertising?

But I forgot, you, Mentior speak for the whole of the UK. No one watches adverts anymore, and TV is doomed. Sorry.

I know somebody with a Giz. They have told me that the adverts are SO unintrusive. And you don't EVEN have to watch them. But he does, cos it's so little deal, like two minutes in the middle of a half hour programme. So that should really kill that particular debate right here. The real debate is whether the machine any good. And again, the new Giz looks very very promising indeed.

Now discuss that, little piggies!

I like the Gizmondo vs Gp2x discussion on the Gizmondo Forums.

Gizmondo vs. GP2X Discussion Tread

My favorite quote is the last one on the thread by dave

IF U GET A GP@X THEN U WILL BE A FORUM TRAITOR!!! U WANT THAT TO HAPPEN THEN DO GET ONE GIZ FOR LIFE

Oh Noes You can't have more than one Handheld!

lubidog: it has power and all, soon w/ WS, now it just needs games. As for homebrew, it depends how anal they are on keeping the system closed like Sony does. Usually companies are willing to take a deficit on the console because they know people have to buy games, and that is where they make a surplus. I think it's commercial games will make or break the system.

Mamma, Can I Mow The Lawn? ... and if they continue making games like this, it's going to fail.

Pocket Pingpong Ha ha ha women in bikinis playing pingpong. No wonder they added the pocket part.

Colors
I admit Colors looks like a pretty cool game...
