Gizmondo To Have Official Homebrew

Wow you people are pompous jerks for having a handheld that can barely run 3D accelerated apps yet. Open source might be a great concept but it ain't sliced bread.

As for emulators, to simply put it the approach which GPH is taking is that if a developer gets off their bum and starts sueing programmers for the property which you cracked in order to use for free, GPH is going to do nothing to help you. In other words everything has their pros and cons. :p

Maybe we don't give a fuck about 3D accelerated apps. And if we did we would get a DS or PSP not that POS jizz.

As for emulators nothing is "cracked" and there is no suing. GPH has nothing to do with emulators so they can't control if there are emus on the GP2X or not. Just like Dell or HP has no control over the hundreds of emulators that run on the PC. Your point is mr. fanboi?

I'm also wondering why we need 3d acceleration in a console made basically for retro uses and fun. If we wanted the latest 3d games, we'd probably be buying a PSP or DS, not the Gizmondo.

Yes, the Gizmondo was hacked, but the first thing people started saying before it was even public was along the lines of "Can you copy the game sd cards now?". ie, no interest in homebrew or emulation, just warez. Needless to say, the hack was never made public as Firefly didn't want to be responsible for creating a Gizmondo warez scene.

Last time I checked the DS was using full software rendering, no 3D accelerated chip. If only we had that library for the GP2x :(

Check again. There is custom 3D hardware in there. If there wasn't, at 66 MHz it wouldn't do much more than a GBA as far as 3D.

That would be the shortest lived warez scene. They would copy the 5 games and it would be all over real quick :p
