What do you early adopters of the GP2X do with your overpriced brick?
Sure for the developers among you its fine but there seems to be a lot of people including non-developers who have bought into it early...Surely you can only be entertained by Metal Slug for so long?

Well, there's the gp32! There's excellent frodo, a800 emulation, great portable hexen fixes, quake at 15fps, fairly playable nes emulation, snes flipbook-like gaming and movies to watch ;)

Yeah there's the GP32 still but you don't need a GP2X to enjoy that, I checked mine this morning and its still working even with no GP2X in the area :p

So the SNES and NES emus are at decent speeds now? I thought they were still in a pretty early state.

From what I've seen , SNES emulation is better than the PSP overclocked... Even trying to play a PSP overclocked at 333mhz is still flipbook like...

I sent mine back. The joystick ruined it for me. Fine during the menus, but devving my own games made me realise just how bad it was. I'm not dissing the GP2X before the flamers leap in, it was great apart from the joystick. And that is not a software fix sadly. Some people like the stick, and I accept that. I'm not happy with it, and will stick to coding for and playing my GP32 for now :)

I took mine to work today and had Little Computer People running on Frodo next to my laptop.
"Bob" developed an obsessive compulsive disorder in which he repeatedly had a glass of water then did the washing up. Eventually he got sick and went to bed.

He happily went about his business for 5 hours before the batteries died. Uniross aren't the best but they aren't that bad :p

Will the joystick be different in the second "official" release? I have heard good and bad about it.

Have to agree 100% the joystick is terrible, I was going to send it back for that reason, until I found out I could easily take it off and luckily I found a small round plastic/rubber piece which fitted on perfectly. This made the joystick much better to use.

Unfourtuently Im having other problems, so Im sending mine back and will order one again when they are released officially, and by then hopefully fix the other small issues (will miss it though)

I haven't even touched the Neo Geo emulator.

I've been trying out some C64 classics and playing through Quake at a playable speed.

Also, if devs were the only people to buy the system then there wouldn't be many people to play their games, would there? Point. Less.

Sharpen up your attitude and come join the fun :)

You have a flipbook showing chrono trigger at 60fps?

do you think, it will get cheaper, if you wait for it maybe 6 months? i don't think so and in germany the first edition gp2x's where even cheaper than the regular ones.
so where do you think is the advantage of nit byuing it now but in half a year?

i dont see why everone is creaming their pants over Quake so much, its only Quake

Yes, it is Quake. Say what you see.

Anyway, Quake wasn't really very playable on my 156 GP32 so this is the first I've played it through since it was first released on the PC. Good times (though not as good as Quake II, amittedly...but still better than Quake III :p).

And according to reviews, it blows away quake 4. :D
