The one that comes with the unit

I didnt notice a tiny spec of dust on it when I placed it on the unit...its now stuck and the spec seems massive (cos I know its there ;))

So is there an easy way to remove and re-fit?

/hopes

I have the same problem. Although my screen protector is additionally scratched to bloody hellfire. I've got devices I've had for years which are still pristine.. but the GP2X comes PRE-SCRATCHED!?

You did peel off the vinyl layer, right? Because I thought the exact same thing until I discovered that could be peeled off to reveal a pristine surface under it

Thanks guys, I found it in the end... just the thought of my pristine GP2X having a horrible scratched screen steered me towards irrational outbursts.

The dust/hair problem still stands, but I have an idea- unscrew the back, remove the LCD, and get it from the other side. Saving damage to the screen protector that would otherwise be caused by prying it off with a knife.

I tried taking mine apart yesterday I took all of the screws out but something was holding back near the bottom of the unit. I didnt want to force it before I knew what I was pulling away maybe it has some sort of latch.

Maybe someone could post a photo tutorial on how to take apart the unit safely. Im looking at you Evil Dragon ;)

When removing the protectors or watever pasted on screen, use scotch tape stick on it and peel the layer shld be off wif the watever layer that u wan to remove.

Do this especially when you also wan to put ur own protector on, coz using ur hands or nails will leave too much oil or dust on the surface. Of course not to forget use microfibre cloth(tissues are evil) when cleaning.

So basically use scotchtape tape the protector up, clean the surface wif microfibre cloth, stick it back on, peel off scotch tape

Note: dont stick a huge area on the protector or it might be difficult to peel off later
;)

For anyone who has not yet found it, there is also a similar thin vinyl layer on the Power/Battery strip.

oh good, i had started to try and remove but it wasn't coming off so i thought maybe it wasn't supposed to (after leaving some marks with my thumb nail :S)

i'll give it another go now then :)

You mean I should open it up once again? Aawww ;)
Of course I have not/would "never try to solder, repair, disassemble........void the warranty" my GP2X because it tells me in the manual not to. However I think you would be doing the community, yet another, great service ED. I know someone else (not me, honest guv) who, quite rightly I think, bottled out of trying to disengage the back cover.

It's in Korean, but you can guess from pictures. Here is a quick recap.

Rotate the stick and take it out first, otherwise it won't open.
Because of battery connectors, when you open up you better open perpendicularly.

The assembly is the exact backward steps. BTW you're trying it at your own risk the author of this tutorial said. :)

I got a HUGE rock of dirt under my screen protector, but that procedure on the Korean site looks scary. Cant we buy another screen protector from Craig then I can mash up the one I have got getting it off.

I did the same thing. Very carefully put the screen protector on, with a massive clump of dust under it.

To get the protector off, I got a penknife and lifted up the edge of the protector with it, then VERY, VERY CAREFULLY edged the penknife around the protector until I could pull it free from the gp2x.

It was a bit of a drastic measure, but it was a really annoying piece of dust.
