xybots is pretty sluggish even at 200mhz but that's with full sound! Looks, and so almost sounds, absolutely stunning :D

it doesn't seem to want to run with sound off, but I'm betting it'll be smooth...
earlier games seem much faster even with sound and at 166!! :)

wonderboy seems almost perfect and the sound isn't crackly at all.

Thank You Franxis, this was worth staying up for ;) :)

yeah some games don't work unless sound+YM3812 on

It's been a long time since i've bothered with my GP32 but this has brought me back to it. I've always kept an eye of the scene in the hope that a half-decent MAME emulator would come out....but this goes far beyond being half-decent.

This is superb, can't wait till I head off to work on Monday so that I can sit and play Commando on the subway on the way to work. :D

Oooo MAME on GP32, shiney....

A list of what game uses which fxe would be nice, or at least which one has bump and jump, anyone know?

Can`t try it myself yet (still at work :(), But just checked the mame website and seem`s as though bump and jump was by Data east. Try the mdataeas.fxe.

I can't get this to work. I have tried zipped roms, non zipped roms and all I get is "error no available games" or something like that. How do you get this to work? I tried to use that clrmame util with the dat file but it still won't work. 2 hours wasted and still no-go. How do you do this? so confusing

rebuild the roms with clrmame with the dat. put the roms in MAME034 folder, check online which company made the game (Capcom,Taito, Namco etc)and make sure you open the correct fxe for the game you want to play.

It would be helpful if someone could create a gameslist for each fxe.

I used the scanner and it gives a bunch of errors that say there are missing roms in certain sets. These same sets worked on the PC so I don't know what is going on there. Next there are two clrmamr.dat files in the MAME archive. One is called clrmame.dat and one called clrmame034.dat. Why are there two? which one do I use? I have old roms that I never updated from 026 or something like that. Still trying to figure this out but I am ready to give up. I just can't figure out what clrmame wants me to do and in what order.

put the clrmame mame 0.34.dat in the datfiles folder of clrmame.
start clrmame, select clrmame mame 0.34.dat and click load/update.
click rebuilder and select the rom source folder and the destination folder for the newly built roms (must be different folders).
then put the new roms in you MAME034 folder.

I hope this helps.

I'm still having trouble with a couple of games but most of what I have tried are working well.

So I don't need to use the scanner first?

Do I use merged, split, etc? Not sure what it wants there. I only got 1 or 2 of about 30 roms to work. the others say error loading rom, machine emulation not initialized or something. I guess I have all bad romsets?

I also tried all of the roms that worked fine with MultiPac but it wouldn't load those either. Errors on every single one. So frustrating.

I had the same problem with Double Dragon 2. I was trying to use Double Dragon 2 (world) but it did not work. Then I put Double Dragon (world) and (US) in the same folder and and clrmame set on Non-merged sets and now my Double Dragon 2 rom works fine :D
I've noticed if I exit Double Dragon 2 to change the options in the emu it won't reload. Does this happen on many games or is it because it's quite a large rom?

Where can I get clrmame mame 0.34 from? The sites I tried don't seem to have it, just the 0.63 version..
