which was that other snes emulator? I liked that one, but it was discontinued. OS9XGP is better for stuff like ff5 though.

cool down everyone, and be happy with what you already got from yoyo - a perfect and the best nes emu for the gp32 ever and also the best and very enjoyable snes emulator.
theres the source, too, so coders can optimize the emu if they want to. he even built the base for gpamp (note that gpamp is based on yogg) and i bet many of you are using gpamp like i do.

yall forgot that he was devving the whole stuff FOR FREE, he didnt ask for a buck so let him do whatever he wants to do and goddamnit, at least THANK him for those emus if you use them and if you dont want to donate or smth.

ya, thanks mr yoyo, you allowed me to play ff5 and stuff

oooh, how aboots we send him loads of thankyou emails! it might make him make a new version quicker, or make him delete his email account! lol  (this is a joke. Do NOT spam yoyo's email with thankyou)

Yeah, it all started with him winning that fucking Zodiac in the coding compo.  That was the beginning of the end of SNES emulation on the GP32

That prize (Zodiac) I think was a big mistake.  Couldn't he have given out a damn MP3 player or toaster or something?  :(

honestly, what more can you expect, afaik its pretty much hardware issues that are holding back further work on os9xgp.

It is not all hardware issues. The ASM sound mixing routeens were never finished which is why it is slow when sound is on. And I never said that he should never work on anything else but GP32 either. But getting the Zodiac when he did did pre-maturely stop development on the GP32 version. As soon as he got it most developement of the GP32 version stopped dead. It would have been nice if the GP32 version was finished before he moved on, but oh well, it is what it is. I guess we have enough other emus so not having SNES it is not that big of a deal. DrMD and other emus are real awesome so we should just be thrilled with that. :)

And I made my post right when I got to work early, so I was grumpy, Sorry..

Like it was said in a previous post we should just get over it, forget about SNES with sound.

He should atleast release the Little John 0.4 source. Think of what the gurus could do with that...But leave him alone, people. For all you know he's working on something for us.

Whatever, big deal. I'm not very surprised, I don't know why this comes as a shock to so many people. Yoyo hasn't been very active in this community for months now. Anyhow, Wolfsclaw is absolutely right. He has already given us the best nes and snes emu's on the gp. I play osnes all the time; it plays so many games damn well, and little John is fantastic.

I thank yoyo for all he's done for the community (and he has done a LOT) and wish him luck

People should be more appreciative of what they currently have. Even if yoyo never does anything else to Osnes, its still damn good. I mean, for games that dont use special chips it runs without sound, fullspeed or near at 133 Mhz. I dont know about the rest of you but im quite happy to be able to play Chrono Trigger on a handheld, even if its only running half speed in battles. :D

People need to quit complaining, Yoyo was doing this for free, its not like you paid him $50 to get a copy of the emulator. If i were a coder and i released something and people just bitched about it id prolly stop working on it if people couldnt appreciate it...

What we have is good!

BE APPRECIATIVE!!

oo! great idea!

Man, some of you people just demand way too much...

I sent Yoyofr a donation this week in appreciation for all he's done on the GP32 - he replied and said he still wants to finish OS9XGP some day.

But if he reads threads like this and others, I wouldn't blame him for never giving us another release. He's a real guy with a real life, doing this in what little spare time he has -- if it ain't fun for him, why should he do it? He owes us nothing, there is no sense of obligation -- the GP32 community has to make it fun for him to keep working, and that's not done by bitching and bemoaning his success on other platforms -- it's by being patient and supportive and showing your appreciation for what he does.

ok ok,he owes us nothing,we know,we know.it's just a pity if he lost some interest, that's all.i know i personally bought the gp for snes emulation,so,yeah,it is kind of a pity if it dosn't get finished.
that said, yes,it's free, yes,we shouldn't complain(noone's complaining),yes, whatever else but NO!I'M NOT GONNA START CODING!sorry,it just cracks me up when people start with the well-if-this-and-that-then-start-coding-yoursleves kind of thing.I tell you why.because if we approach every discussion on this forum with "you should start coding" "it's free" "noone owes nohing to noone" and all that, well, then just close the discussion forum!I mean, obviously we're gonna discuss and say things like "i wish it was finished\ran better\faster\full speed with sound" etc.,it's why we're here in the first place.otherwise we can just have a news page announcing new games and apps and that's it,close the rest.mh?no?didn't think so..

If anybody wants to complain about being abandoned, then complain about GamePark themselves who haven't released software in ages.

We have been lucky over the years for all the homebrew programmers.

Thanks again Yoyo! You've helped keep a dead box fun!

I bought my gp32 mostly for s/nes emulation and mp3's

OsnespxGP is PERFECT as far as I'm concerned.. It honestly runs SNES Roms better than my piece of shit PC does

THANK YOU YOYO FOR ALL OF YOUR HARD WORK!!!
(i know I wouldn't have the patience or skill to work on a prgram like this)

I think I can go with that... at least, the general thanks bit :)

So yeah - if you're reading, Yoyo, know you've another person says thanks in a very big way; OS9x isn't perfect, but its a darn sight closer than any previous attempt!

It'd be nice if he does finish it one day, but hey - I'm happy with the GP32 as it is; it does pretty much everything I need it to now, tbh :)
