Compatibility List For New Drmd

Aaaand ToeJam & Earl is only fun with DAC :)

But playing Sonic with DAC is simply impressive.

And most of the games I tried run with correct music speed and DAC :)
Really good!

Quackshot's sound is still too slow... but the game is playable.
And Earthworm Jim 1 & 2 as well as Sonic Spinball play weird sounds instead of music...

But, as said, most run 100% with DAC and music :)

Pssst...One of you beta testers...Please see if the sound FX works on Star Control now. That's one of my favorites.

I love star control as well and would love to test the sound but still can't seem to get it working.. maybe I'll track down a different rom and see if that fixes it. It SHOULD fix the sound as it's pretty obvious the sounds used for Star Control are recorded samples and not synthesized noises... therefore they would HAVE to use the DAC.

And guys really ALL games do benefit from the DAC implementation... if not thru voice you will definatley notice the music will sound more 'full' or there will be sounds/instruments you didn't hear before. DAC also does a lot of the sound effects like punching/gun sounds.

It seems a LOT of roms would play no music when you first started them, at the title screen or whatever, but with DAC much of that silence is now removed... odd that so many games seemed to use DAC almost exclusively for music during their title screens.

I will say I've been doing a lot of comparison, and you'd never know by just playing... I mean you'd never notice, but it does run just the tiniest bit slower on some of the most intense games (graphically intense and also using a lot of DAC sound)... like average of 1-3fps slower... I couldn't help but test this out myself by leaving both DrMD's on there and switching back and forth while watching the FPS during some games. Really amazing I'd have expected the DAC emulation to take a hit out of the performance but really it doesn't. REALLY impressive. I'll give a frame or two for a now perfect Sonic 2! It's funny... I've had sega nomads for several years yet I can't ever remember enjoying them as much as playing these games on this emu....

i've just found out about this topic, and i've also just found out that MEGALOMANIA runs on drMD!
so i guess this goes here. my rom was not working on other genesis emulators and even not working on emulators on my pc.

i love it when sensible people kill each other.

All games ive tested run perfectly, a few have slow sound, some have fast sound but the speed is perfect. To perfect. Great job Reesy.

One things though, it doesn't really bother me but it could be useful to know. Shinobi 3 crashes when you enter the options menu.

Wish i could get a beta, but I have no money to donate, the longer i wait for the next release the better it'll be when it comes. unlike most people I love waiting ages for games. I crave the excitement.

Yep Shinobi 3 does crash going to options and also has the bug where when the score is tallying when you finish a level, often it will just keep tallying infinitely and you can't advance to the next level.

I tried a different version of Star Control but still can't get it working at all, all I get is black screen, so can't report how DAC helps it.

Don't bother with bumping this post, I'm sure Reesey has it bookmarked if he feels it important enough.

And everyone, please test out games that just won't boot on Gigadrive / fGEN32 as well as DrMD. This will help sort out Cyclone bugs (example: Shadowrun stopped working in fGEN32 when the Cyclone engine was placed in, and now it doesn't work in any emulator).

Right now it seems "Soldier of Fortune" freezes after a shot is fired, and tests show that it's a compatibility problem with DrMD. I'll edit my post for more compatibility problems, or if the above information changes.

And, of course, thanks to Reesey for a wonderful emulator. I find myself playing Genesis ports of SNES games instead because of how nice and fast DrMD is.

Finally used this, amazing, simply amazing. (hugs gp)
Just some issues I have, but don't really care about.

Mickey Mouse : World of Illussion, Moving objects when effected will disappear for a while. The tornados on the second level flicker alot because of this.
Dr Robotniks Mean Bean Machine: White shadows behinds beans
Dynamite Heady: Disappears every now and again, I haven't played that much though.
Ghouls n Ghosts: Fine, when killed you disappear from screen for longer then usual but doesn't matter

Currently I'm going though Story of thor, Columns 1 + 3, Sparkster, Rocket Adevntures (yes I'm a child inside...and outside)

Super Baseball 2020 - the text and most graphics cut off about 1/3 of the way down the screen. I don't believe that sound works on it either (just some occasional beeps).

Sonic Spinball - Again, sound is just beeps. And some graphics will stick on the screen and go through the top score board. I may very well just be crazy, but I don't think that Sonic is as responsive to being hit by the paddles as he should be (this is an issue in fGen, too).
