How I look at it:I don't follow the USA too closely, but I'm wondering if some Trump friend is cracking on the USPTO yet?
I mean, Musk and his crackers are getting rid of USAID, FDA, CDC, NIH, Department of Education, and assorted public services.
Trump is also behind changes to FTC, FCC, pentagon, and whatnot.
I mean I guess the patent office is self funding, crooks pay for their monopolies and for their licenses to sue people out of business, but now that they are at it, they could close it too, couldn't they ?
If not for government efficiency, at least to keep entertained some Trump friends who are likely out of jail. Storming the USPTO should be about as much fun for all those retards as the Capitol or what's their notion?
Are they going out of the TRIPS, Berne, etc like they are going out of WHO, WTO, etc. ? They already got out of the 2015 Paris Agreement, can't they get out of the Paris Convention from 1883 ?
It's also an indirect way of attacking Russia by forcing OPEC to produce more oil, lowering it's price. The US should hope it yields long term results as for the short term everyone is impacted. The objective of tariffs is re-shoring which benefits factory workers and hurts multinational corporations. It hurts Tesla.
I was joking. I'm not against tariffs. I'm more or less against globalization. I just found funny how they did them, and I never trust rich people caring for poor people, so I always suspect underhand deals and legal uncertanity as a way to wield undue power. The objective of tariffs is re-shoring which benefits factory workers and hurts multinational corporations. One of the reasons globalization would be bad is that we still run into issues with other countries. It's always healthy to have a mix of sources for your goods as disasters can always happen and it's more efficient to get perishable goods from sources near you.I am against tariffs!!!! They are just another form of taxation, which of course benefits governments. I am in favor of them only if they protect job markets, but they are a cost to everyone. I am against rampant globalization if it hurts job markets, which it does. My basic tenet is everyone should be able to get a job that pays adequately and suits them. This requires protectionism which comes at a cost so should be handled judiciously but is a price worth paying. So people can do something they don't hate 8 hours a day then have enough money to do things they love in their spare time. It should be attainable.....

With all due respect, but that's BS. When you do get a grasp of and do consider how our overall productivity has gone up over the last 2 centuries or so (and is still going), you've gotta accept that that's utterly unrealistic. Unless of course, you want to establish tons more of BS jobs to make your goal met.My basic tenet is everyone should be able to get a job that pays adequately and suits them. ... Similarly, Keyboardio sent out email to their customers alerting them to the upcoming import taxes and advising US customers to buy rather now then later. Now it's really resonating

I'm not talking about the future. In Switzerland you can live comfortably as a graphic designer, bus driver, baker, architect, etc. In England you're in poverty. With all due respect, but that's BS. Already a necessity and progressively more and more so is unconditional basic income one can live off of. "This is the Way."
Yes. But not without a cultural shift, where someone not working a job isn't called a failure. And education should be good enough so that people can actually hold a job, when they do chose to.Or do you envisage a society where people don't have to do anything?
