This Foil Thing sounds good, its maybe not that cool as Metal Inlays, but therefore whe havent that much issues then if whe want to pass the Security Check on the Airport..

But whats happeing whit the 2000 Metal Inlays ?? Key Ring Atachments??

Yes to metal inlays (as an optional accessory to buy)! The logo is awesome, and much preferable to stuff like the usual stickers that certain (most) laptops insist on brandishing on them.

Aluminium-Plates with 3M athesive should be fine with water-jet cutting
If the Pyra gets fitted with this stickers, I'll make a INOX inlay at work and fitt mine with it

I hope the Pyra don't gets painted.
My black 3DS looks absolute ugly after some years where the edges are rubbed of.
Its absolute easy to see the difference of the black paint and the black underground

Strange, my blue 3DS looks as good as new, maybe because i bought me a 3DS XL when it was available (i ever wantet a DSI XL, so it was a good alternative),
My Only Handheld that looks a bit ugly now because of its Paint is the Pandora, but thats maybe because they used Silver Paint on a Black Plastik..

It was allready decide that the Pyra gets paintet (According to ED in the Video), it cant be worse than the Pandora, so i would say, lets paint it..

Also the Paint Job will be pretty Proffessional, not like whe Paint our Unimog around 2000 whit Paint Rollers and Brushes

To be fair, the paint on the Pandora was abysmal also. Mine has rubbed shiny in places (after owning it for a year or so) and looks bloody awful.

Never being a fan of the current logo, and now having a dual extruder 3D printer now I plan on attempting my own logo as I can have an opaque and transparent plastic in the same layer. Can experiment with a few emblems. Perhaps I can finally have that Pickledora I've wanted.

I`ll be trying this also I think.. So Trashy... did yo udual extruder an existing single extruder or purchase a dual ?

Well, what is better:
If it looks absolute ugly from the beginningor if it starts to look absolute ugly after a few years of usage?

I always thought that the aluminium plate would sit behind the outside plastic plate ... basically in the order RGB-LEDs, translucent-plastic-part, aluminium inlet and that all is pressing from the inside against the case. And the case has a smaller, rounded whole through which you can see the logo ...

Anyway, if you decide to paint or coat the case, wouldn't the case become thicker? Might that be a problem?

Personally I would be fine with an unpainted case. I voted for some Amiga/C64/old computer colour for the case anyway, I wonder if the problems are less visible with a very light colour (the grey from the previous video was still pretty dark I think)?
Both will not help in increasing sales or getting good reviews though. Any review will call it "too expensive" anyway, and it will get worse if it looks like "cheap plastic". It will automatically be called "bad build quality" even if it isn't.

Painting on plastic is not a good idea. Just see if you can leave the plastic with its original color and a nice shiny luster. Anybody wanting to make their unit funky and pretty can always use stick-on designs.

Honestly I don't care either way, I'm here for the functionality.
So you would not mind receiving your Pyra in a box of toxic waste as long as the Pyra still works because you are not here for toxic waste exposure prevention.

We're all here for the functionality, but that does not mean that nothing else matters to any of us.

So all major companies are doing it wrong...?

What is being referred to as 'Paint' is actually a sprayed on molecular 'Coating'. If anything, it will add to the scratch resistance of the plastics while yielding a uniform surface color with no depth.

As to 'polishing the cases', that would be far more expensive than coating them AND wouldn't do anything to hide these natural thermal/pressure variations that ED and the plastics companies have been trying to minimize. These markings are not just on the surface. No amount of 'shining' will lessen them - it would actually make them more visible. Kind of like taking a dull stone from a stream and polishing it results in a shiny rock where you can see all of the otherwise hidden details.

A very few of us are 'anti coating'. Most of those would still be fine with it if it does get coated - they really just don't want any further delays. Many of us don't care whether the cases get coated or not. A good chunk of people, though, ARE highly concerned about the aesthetics of the device and there is a legitimate fear that the 'influencers' and 'reviewers' could trash the device over it being 'cheap' or 'unfinished' if the plastics show obvious visual imperfections in finish.

To that end, I reiterate my 'simple solution'.
All production Pyras get fitted with coated black cases. This greatly simplifies the product streams at the assembly factory.
Sell case plastics packs as Pyra accessories in @EvilDragon 's store. Uncoated and/or coated alternative colors, whatever he thinks would sell enough accessory plastics packs to make it worth while stocking them, etc.
Done.

I'm sure he never looked at that /s
I sent requests to about 15 companies in germany that offer various metal cutting / production possibilities. Not a single one offered that.
Do you have a company at hand that can do that?
