World Of Warcraft

I really, really liked the original. And Warcraft doesn't particularly appeal to me as a series. I'd easily get addicted to WoW could I play it, but I think I'd prefer EQII. It looks nicer and is apparently far more detailed.

Mmmmm, EQII, I've heard very little good about it but I can't say too much as I never played EQ or EQII. Apparantly if you liked the original EQ before sony came along and cocked it up this is supposed to be the one to watch. It's from the guys that put the original EQ together.

in EQII they put a special key that brings up a window to allow you to order pizza online while still playing the game. Leave it to Sony to think something like that.

Buying WoW tomorrow morning. What server is everyone on?

I'll be soloing mostly, so I'll be playing a Night Elf Hunter. A friend of mine might also be joining up once he plays the game to see if he likes it :)

What's the verdict then Rico? Do you like it?

Just finished a doomed raid into Horde territory. We only decided to go for a laugh. Was fun when I gave them the bird the third time I'd ressurected. They camped our corpses and surrounded us so it was fluke I got out at all. :) lol.

So there was me a lowly lvl 21 priest legging it down the road with about 4 Horde lvl 20 odds following me when they realise they wont catch me and give up. Suddenly I'm getting bitten and the lvl 27 shaman has changed into some fast wolf thing and caught me up. So I use a spell that scares things away for 8 seconds and get a good start on him :) three times he tried to get me, three times I used the spell to turn him away. lol. You had to be there really but it was a laugh at the time.

Eeek 3.05 AM need sleep.

Hmm.

Level 8 NE Hunter. Yep, it's a solo class, but still, not impressed by the lack of people. Either because I'm still in the newbie area, or the realm is just low (about 600 people). Which means I often can't find anyone to group with and nobody is talking, save a few idiots dancing in the inn.

I'm going to reroll either a Rogue or a Warrior on a more populated server to see if it makes a difference. I love the crossbow and all, but not being able to group even at these low levels I was not prepared for :(

Only played about 4 hours or so, though.

EDIT: Now level 7 human mage on the Shadowsong server. Finding it more enjoyable, especially with a lot more abilities available.

I don't think hunters really open up until they get their pet at lvl 10. Not played one tho.

Played a mage to lvl 10 in beta and that was fun from the word go. By all accounts all the classes are fun the higher you lvl them.

I do intend to go back to my hunter and get a pet, because either one of the classes could be a keeper. Now my mage is level 13 and I'm starting to get talents sorted, and I usually get into informal groups about once or twice an hour which is really fun.

My only complaint is the slow pace of the game (although it has to be slow). Took me a long time before I could even consider grinding in Westfall. Even though it says '10-20' you can only access a small area of it while level 10. I guess I'll be stuck in Westfall for a while since every other nearby zone is level 20+.

By the time you hit about 17 or 18 the game opens up and you start getting quests all over the place.

You could always get the tram from stormwind to Iron Forge and see what quests are around there.

I just discovered the tram yesterday, and although Ironforge is too easy for me there's a lot of neat stuff to do in the Wetlands. Like delivering an axe and getting cash, then the next quest is to deliver a request 'all the way down in Stormwind', good thing I had my hearthstone set there :) Waiting for level 20 when I'll be able to make a direct portal.

I heard downtime for the mage gets really bad as the levels go on :( I hope they make a higher rank water because at the moment level 60s are making do with level 50-class water and having to sit for ages while other classes go on and on. Then again it's a thinking class, and I haven't mastered all of my spells to their best use yet.

I find that for the most part the population are excellent. I would guess the dickheads are <1% of the whole. Having said that it does require a brain to play which probably keeps the chavs away.
