There is a port of Wolf3d but it seems that it disappeared in the archive. (maybe because of that attack-thingy?)

You're lucky, I have a copy of the port on my harddisc :) (Including SoD, i hope that you only need that 2 files besides the data...)

Checkout that too http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=157444

IIRC, the game is banned in germany and the archive is hosted in germany. Connect the dots :D

ahhhh, that makes sense thur...say why was it banned in germany? i mean its...oh wait...

(i just forgot the main plot of that game)

All the Wolfenstein games are banned ;) : Wolf 3D, SoD , RTCW, and Wolfenstein Enemy Territory.

Funny how Wolfenstein Enemy Territory (online multiplayer game), still has German servers hosting it. Heh, I guess not all providers are as strict.

I still find it rediculous. Its not banned for graphic violence (at least not by todays standards), Not banned for language, Not banned for nudity, Why are they banned? They're banned because half a century ago a jackass decided to take over the world. I fail to see why germany bans them, i mean, Hitler is not revered in germany, so its not like the people playing them are killing some great martyr or something. If anything, there would be a sense of vindication gained by fighting against such evil creatures as Nazi's >_>

Tis foolish.

There were several laws passed in german after the war banning glorification of the Nazi's and related matter. It might have something to do with that.

But how is it glorification? Is a game where you hunt down and kill al queda terrorists glorifying them? If you're shooting demons from the pits of hell that are mutilating the corpses of your foes, is that glorifying what the demons are doing?

Are human beings really very stupid and narrow-minded creatures?

its because germany doesn't like to be reminded of their own, erm, ownage

No you fools, don't be ignorant smartass know-it-alls, its banned because there are STILL NAZI'S IN GERMANY (also in the United States, the UK, Canada, Australia, and Iceland, incidentally), and anything promoting the Nazi ideology is considered hostile psychology ..

And yes, Wolf3D very definitely promotes the "Strong Nazi" persona. If you can't see this, just count how many times you've been killed by Nazi's while playing it...

i believe this is why it was bant :p

i belive thats the first time anyone has called me smart  (lol j/k) but thats another reason that probably makes more sense... and yeah i have bee nkilled in this game many times, but i come back to life (unlike those who i am killing once i beat the level) so i guess it goes both ways on who's killing who but either way who cares... the germans lost in WW2 get over it, just cause there some PO-ed nazis dosnt mean hat the rest of germany have to miss out on this game imo

(LMAO at the pic)

Discussion of censorship aside... can anyone help me get this one to run?

I extracted the six GPEs into a directory called Wolf3d in the root. In that directory, I created another directory called Wolf3d and placed the W6L files from my PC's Wolfenstein 3d installation (full commercial version). When I try to start it up, I get a black screen and am kicked back to the menu. Help? Thanks,

I can tell you the reason why it was banned. German government was quite strict with censorship based on violence back in the days when wolfenstein was banned originally. Doom was also on the so called index as were a lot of games that we would laugh about today for example secret weapons of the luftwaffe which is a fucking aircombat simulation for gods sake (and they call that violence...). Wolfenstein was also banned not because it was promoting nazi ideology (it doesn't) or because the germans can't take the loss of the war, actually we are quite glad that we lost, we don't feel that it was a lost war but a won one since the nazis threatened everyone. It was banned because in Germany certain symbols of the nazi era are banned. If you walk around in a german city wearing an SS shirt or a carrying a giant flag with a swastika on it, you will get badly fined and might have to go to court.

It's still kinda stupid that they still ban the game though. Everyone can get it on the internet nowadays anyway.

Also the new Wolfenstein games that run based on the q3 engine, are not banned anyomore, only the US versions which contain gore and nazi symbolics. There is German versions of all the games nowadays that are censored. That's why everyone imported Halflife 2, cause the German version sucks without any bloody scenes. I wonder what the Raven level is like in the German version of the game. Maybe you get to the gate in the underground base and that girl says "we don't go to Raven anymore" and then.... you don't go there, too?

i dled the first package with the 2 gpe's (cause those are the only 2 you need for spear of desteny and wolf3d) so just make a folder for wolf3d and for SoD then put the game files in the same directories... they work great for me (havent tested on fw 2.1.0 yet tho)

Perfect! Thank you.

Now I have graphic flaws, but I've already read that I just need to DL the vgafiles.zip from http://www.personal.triticom.com/~erm/GP2X/GP2XWolf/. Should be fine after that.
