Thinking of getting back into the Wii again and wondered what simultaneous 2 player games (other than 1 on 1 fighting games) people would recommend.

We're looking for platformers, scrolling beat-em ups (streets of rage type stuff) or anything else that people can recommend.

The chance you haven't played it is small I guess: Mario, supports all players on one screen you can even pick up others and throw them around, hilarious stuff.

All the shooters-on-rails like House of the Dead, Resident Evil

Edit: The Conduit 2 has split screen co-op

Monster Hunter Tri

And the LEGO games

Loved House of The Dead Overkill so I'll give those a try.

Just what's mentioned, perhaps Metal Slug Anthology too, though not actually played on Wii myself

That looks a really good site, not seen that one before.

Should have added no FPS, my other half gets motion sick playing them :(

Just bid on Donkey Kong Country Returns & Kirby's Return to Dreamland on ebay.

The Wii really has some classic titles and they can be got for pocket money prices.

Which of the Lego games would people recommend as there are quite a few.

Best one:

Super Smash bros Brawl.

It has Team battle and a side scrolling storry you can play together.

It's definity not a common 1 vs 1 fighting game.

Mario Kart Wii.

Samurai Warriors

Koop strategical fighting against huge masses of enemies.

Really great.

F-Zero (for gamecube)

It's a gamecube game but Wii can play it and it's much faster than Mario Kart.

Mario Tennis (for Gamecube)

Also pretty fun

New Super Mario Bros.

Never tried it but you can play in 2 Player mode.

I wouldn't buy Games like Wii sports.

I hate to hop in front of my TV.

Hope it helps you.

The site above mentioned Batman and the Harry Potter ones.

You could also go with Virtual Console titles on the Wii like The Legend of the Mystical Ninja or Secret of Mana

Not all Wiis will play GC games.  Nintendo stupidly removed that function at the end of 2011 from Wiis.  They don't have the Gamecube controller slots or memory cards and will spit back out the GC game when inserted.

If you have a homebrew enabled Wii - Devolution will let you play GameCube games from a USB HDD or from the SD card and memcard is stored on the same medium and recently USB controls have been added. (Just Saying...)

EDIT: Actually it supports Wiimotes/Classic Controller and PS3 pads too...

Mario Kart Wii - Already have this

Samurai Warriors - Looks excellent, we'll definitely get this one.

F-Zero (for gamecube) - We have the older Wii that can play Gamecube titles so will pick this up.

Mario Tennis (for Gamecube) - ditto for this

New Super Mario Bros - Have this one.

Not into Harry Potter & tried the Batman on 360, not too keen.

Just wondered if others had tried the Star Wars (there are a ton) or any others Indiana Jones etc.

I played the Lego Star Wars and like it.

Only played that one and the Batman one.

Really good references to the films, characters, scenes, weapons, sound effects... all nicely done IMO.

The Lego games are well made I think, certainly all seem very popular.

If you like Star Wars though, you bound to enjoy the Lego game of it

others Indiana Jones etc.
At least the first one conquers the movies athmosphere quite nice, but for no real reason they decided that you need the nunchuck for movement <_<
