WiFi performance, another clue

I added a USB Edimax WiFi dongle because the built-in WiFi just wasn't cutting it at home,

and of course it works much better.  However, during the day when I needed to leave my

Pandora in the bedroom I put it up on top of the pc to get it clear of all the wires and clutter

which might interfere with the signal.  Instead, the performance degraded significantly.

It's back directly on the floor today and working as fine as ever.

As best I can tell, sitting the Pandora on top of a metal surface is reflecting board RF

noise back upward, and impacting the Edimax dongle.  I know ED was already looking at

board RF noise interference; to me this seems another data point in that direction.

Sorry to hear that, but with no detsils all I can tell you is that both built-in and USB do work, just at various levels of performance. I know the latest upgrade wad tricky WRT breaking wifi, but I skipped the hass£e & reflashed instead. Hope you can get it working soon!

I think mine must've developed a hardware fault as I initially had a very low connection that would work for about half a web-page and then stop. Now, I can't even see hotspots and I get a unusual error. It does the same with a USB stick too. I've even reflashed the firmware and I get exactly the same error. It sucks massively. Connection to my network was one of the main reasons I got a Pandora, that and programming for it.

I find myself not using it much because of these problems (bit silly I know but that's me). However, I am still programming stuff for it and my game is coming along nicely. Just a shame that I can't just compile it and run it straight of my server (like I should be able to), instead I have to faff around with SD cards.

meh.

What's this unusual error exactly?

Are you sure you reflashed properly?

It's strange that both internal wifi and the stick broke simultaneously.

I'm pretty sure I reflashed properly - I lost all settings and everything was back to square one. I posted the error on here a few months ago...nobody replied (I'm not bitter - it's not your job and it's my fault I haven't actually sent it back...but to be honest, if I sent it back to Craig, I would be worried about getting anything sent back to me due to lack of actual units).

I agree that it's strange that the USB stick doesn't work either (I have 2 of them as well...I bought another even after Craig sent me one, I really wanted this thing to work).

Anyway, here's the error again:

It seems to be renaming the network interface, so I thought a reflash might clear up any config files...but alas it happened again. I kind of gave up on it because it seriously made me extremely unhappy..
