Quite true.
I already far prefer playing emus on my PSP. NES, SNES, GBC and TG-16 are now already much better on PSP than on GP32. Faster, more features, and the screen just kicks ass (the ghosting isn't really an issue, the size, brightness and vivid color more than makes up for that) Even have PCE CD games running. And of course the NeoCD emulator is incredible - yes it really is full speed, full screen with sound and MP3 music, and you never need more than 0 or 1 frameskip. B)
I'm not loyal to any system, so I just pretty much get them all. And right now the PSP rules them all for me. I still like the GP32, and the Zodiac. And I guess I'll use my DS again someday. But at the moment the PSP is great fun and getting better every day (seriously it seems to get emu updates and new homebrew daily!).
The PSP dev scene is on fire. What other handheld had a scene progress so far and fast? In only a few months look what's available for PSP. Add the excellent commercial games to the mix and I can't think of a better handheld. I mean - I can play Wipeout Pure one minute, then switch to NeoCD for some Metal Slug, then do some vintage NES after that. And I haven't even mentioned how nice movies, ebooks and magazines look on it. It's really mindboggling to have all that gaming goodness in one little device.
For anyone wondering about the PSP - I love mine, and definitely recommend you check into it.
