I got a Daewoo CRT TV for free (had to open it up, clean up the male-cat pee). Quality is good, but it has not the degaussian reboot that good CRT TV's have, where the image shakes a bit to remove the year-after-year slow extra blurriness it has. Last year I got a Bravia, also for free, and although I miss the aspect ratio, I must say that it looks better on the new LCD. Because I need glasses, I have a build-in blurr filter, so it looks good. I've put the LCD TV in a wooden furniture, so it sounds full and rich. I can connect audio to my old Sony fh-b511 and the sound comes alive, even though the quality is shitty compared to other setup's, like that of my folks.
I've also tried the zoom options on the LCD, and they really suck. It's non-zoomed and a bit squashed for me if I want to see crisp pixels... otoh, with the FF series, the background looks better.
I've got not real room to hold on to the old TV to be honest... so I'll be parting with it when the spring cleaning begins.
I'm looking to buy a BlueRay player, It seems that an old console will do, but I'll probably buy a cheap BluRay player after xmas (when prices go normal?) to see some media I bought that I'm unable to see.

I spend quite a few hours with the Pandora cable playing on the TV (because I got a purplescreen on the Pandora). I need to fix my Pandy now, I've recharged by stand-by batteries and during re-insertion, the internal linux got deconfigured again. So it does not boot up correctly. So I need to fix the right shoulderbutton to boot into firmware restoration mode... things in my todo list. For now, work takes a frontpage...
A YT channel recently showed how to discharge some thingamajig in CRTs which made a world of difference in sharpness and colors especially. Looked like a new TV afterwards. Having a hard time finding that video again :-||

Edit:
Quake: The Offering is cheap on GOG at the moment. Finished Scourge of Armagon Mission Pack.
Great episode, very cool levels. Endboss is a pushover. Next: Dissolution of Eternity!
Edit: Finished DoE. Had a lot of fun secret hunting and blasting. Great expansions, both of them.

I accidentally gave myself possibly the best birthday gift ever: new official levels for my favourite childhood video game!!

Of course I'm talking about the SMB3 GBA port and the e-reader levels of 2003.

If I hadn't had all that wine on an empty stomach I would never have layed on the sofa to watch - shockingly well selected - YT clip introducing me to the e-reader.

It looks great in HD. If you're gonna have pixels, let them be huge.

I have high hopes for 2022.

I started whit my third Part of the Mario Project on Sylvester evening, but didn’t came dat far in Mario Land 2 DX, maybe I will use my next session to test the Screenshot Feature in GBC.Emu on Pyra ^^
So I continued yesterday whit Borderlands 1 Game of the Year Edition on Nintendo Switch OLED
Whit this comic look it’s cool on this Screen, and as this isn’t the Lite, I’m now have Rumble which might get a bit anoying over time ^^
Played a bit in the DLC where Claptrap wants to make a Revolution, but I think the missions from DR Tannis where mostly fillers ^^ „bring me 50 , 75 , 100 claptrap parts ^^ , at least the description on the mission screen whit quotes from pop culture where fun ^^
Im not that happy whit my siren character, maybe I try some other character today,
Also i don’t know which DLC I allready made..

Mario Project.... i like the konzept.

Have you ever played Super Mario RPG? It's supposed to be really good. Last game produced by Nintendo for the SNES. I have never played it.

I strongly have the urge to play Final Fantasy II (IV) again since I have been playing a bit of FFVII/remake which I find a bit disappointing. It's more of a hack/slash than RPG. Basically the same game as Kingdom Hearts which I consider brainless. I like RPG's where there are a small number of people to talk to, and you have to pay attention to each of them. And you have pay attention in battles or you die. Like proper games.

Only the Jump and Runs, as Mario RPG would explode the frame (den Rahmen sprengen)
I don’t know if I can finish this project, but I’m also not In hurry

So today I finished the Main Quest of Borderlands 1 on Switch Oled,
I was allready quite far but now I opened the vault and that was everything from the main story..
i know there are now some DLC which came whit the Game but I think I will start whit Borderlands 2 as it was download completely..
Im still curious what Character I will take, I think Gunzerker as it’s Special whit the dual wielding Big Guns is quite fun, .. I think I will play the Main Story till Level 30, and then play the DLCs ^^

Borderlands 2 got some issue: the game crashes, so I decide to go back to the good old Truck Simulators :
I just continued Truck Driver on the Switch Oled;
This Version got quite tiny text boxes so it’s not that optimized for a Handheld, but driving is fun and it’s even got working Mirrors ^^ it’s just so that the speed feeling seems to be a bit strange: you drive around 80kmh on a Autobahn, but in this game it’s feels much faster ..
i know how the speed feel in a big truck as I made the Driving License for Truck and Bus , it’s feels faster then on a car, but in this game it’s feels much faster ..
my plan is hear to get a new Truck, there is a 8 x 6 available for 17.000 Euros so I just need to make a few quests ..

The recent release of the remake made me want to try the original Actraiser (SNES) a game that's part action-platformer, part "god game".
The action platformer is well designed, but it shows that it's an early title of the SNES. The animations are a bit stiff and while the movement is ok, it feels a bit limited as well.
The "god game" part is extremely basic and repetitive. It's a nice break from platforming and it's not bad but it feels a bit lacking.
There are some great music pieces.

I finished HAVEN, a relaxing exploration (mainly) game with a story based on a couple who fled on another planet from a dystopic government.

The music is really cool and gives almost the same calm atmosphere of "Mirror's Edge".
It's an open-world game, but subdivided in little islands separated by loading/saving screens, them are fast but a little immersion breaker... the rest of the environment is simple but well polished (excluding the absence of collision detection with some of the animals).
There's a simple combat system very similar to the early Final Fantasy games.

Obviously the most developed part is the characterization and interaction between the two protagonists, the relation is mature and really believable, the dubbing is great and made me chuckle a lot of times.
There's only one way to have a "game over" losing a combat and only with a specific (story related) enemy, with all the others enemies they just return home to recover.

There are two endings (one of them had also another little variant) that can be tried both because of an autosave before the choice. (I'm not sure if the bad one is the good one here, or the contrary... they are pretty much open to interpretation).

Anyway it was a cool trip, one of those games that when finished makes you feel the emptiness, even if its relatively short.

Borderlands 2 (Switch Oled)
After a reboot of the Switch, the software is as finally running, and I played the Mainquest until the part where I’m in Oportinity, and I made some of the DLC allready, like the Pirate’s DLC , which was much more easy then when I made it a few years ago on the Vita,
Then I started the RPG DLC but whit Level 25 I was quite too low , so I made some of these DLC Maps, like the Christmas Map etc until I got Level 30 ..
I played from mid last week till yesterday a lot, maybe to much ..

X-Morph: Defense

Never heard of it before and just got it free from GOG some days ago... turned out to be SUPER FUN !!!

It's a tower defense game that puts you on an assault ship to actively participate in the enemy destruction !!!
Arcade shooting action + Strategic defense planning <--- THEY BLEND !!!

The game is super solid and polished, the physic is used in an awesome way, you can make buildings collapse to block roads or just to crush some enemy units.
The heat of the battle is superb, with a cool soundtrack, a well made dubbing, and EXPLOSIONS everywhere that really feels so powerful.
There are unique (and super cool) BOSSes that needs special tactics to be beaten.

Maybe the arcade shooter part is more developed than the turret defense part, because there are a lot of cool weapons and upgrades for the ship, but just a selection of turrets that are also not upgradable, anyway the devs really did a good job.

Instead of playing, I've been watching someone else review lots of obscure games:
