What Are The Best Headphones For The Gp2x

Great - interesting reading.

Anyone got any input on external speakers (running on batteries, linking into speaker jack on GP2x (so external speakers will need built in amplifier) - good sound quality!

This would be great for movies and playing games with better audio quality, without earplugs!

I have a Wanstonic, which does the above, cost £15 from Maplin - quality is ok, but I am sure there are better external speaker/amplifier units running on batteries out there!!

I bought a pair of Creative fold-away noise cancelling headphones
http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefro...duct/View/C7154
and love them.

EDIT:WATCH OUT THOUGH, I did need to make my own adaptor so they would fit in the GP2X headphone socket (the sound is too high normally)

I read a report recently about the fact that "bud headphones" cause you to turn them up too far as they don't block background noise and since they are closer again to your eardrum, this can be a problem.

I was using bud type ones previously on the bus but so often they would get drowned out by the person sitting next to me's mp3 player. So I thought I'd go and get noise cancelling ones.

Now when I'm on the noisy bus I just unfold my 30mm element Creatives and flick the switch and get instant silence. Then I start up my personal cinema :)

What price health? Save having to buy a hearing aid at age 30, spend some coin on noise cancelling headphones.

vicmacs i agree with you. shure makes incredible headphones. although i wouldn't pay that much for the e5c. i have the e4c which are incredible. probably the best sounding headphones i have ever listened to. of course there are better ones like ultimate ears if you want to pay upwards of $1000.

Finally I've ordered AKG K 26 P headphones, but they seems to be hard to find in my country. They said me, that order will take about 3 weeks because distributor for CZ don't have them in stock. :(

I am using some low-end DJ-style headphones.

I can't stand earbuds since I find them uncomfortable and they fall out and the small size gives them very weak bass.

I still like having a headband secure them over my head.

I used to have an old pair of Sony MDR-350 or something to that effect... try to avoid the lower end DJ headphones from Sony since the headbands break and cannot be repaired. I also found them to fit extremely tightly so it starts to hurt after about a half hour.
Right now I'm using JVC HA-V570, still a low end DJ-style headphone around $40, but I think the sound quality is acceptable and they are very comfortable for me to wear (I used them at work for a few months, so they were worn about 7 hours every day).

The only thing about studio headphones is that most of them are quite bulky, and a lot of them also have obscenely long cords, like around 8 feet long. I ended up tying mine in a knot halfway and then threading the loose end back through the loop to hold it in place.

Shure E500 when they come out :)

Or UE-10's if you're really crazy and can justify one grand on a pair of IEMs.

Hey... that sig looks familiar. Azure loves something-or-other on bemanistyle?

I just remember thinking.. "damn this bastard probably doesn't even play Toaplan shooters" :p

Cool to know the variety of GP2X users though!

Yeah, I was Azure loves Rislim -remix- on BMS. The only Toaplan shooter I play is Tatsujin :)

Do you play IIDX? Back when I still used to play it'd be quite lonely here being the only person that plays IIDX :(

I should be getting a GP2X when I start seeing some commercial games being made and I see full speed w/ sound SNES emulation implemented (With compatibility for games like Mario RPG, MMX2, etc.). Until then I'll just hang with my GP32 for a bit longer :D

I'm still a newbie here and at BMS.

I play IIDX and Guitar Freaks, but I'm not very good at either of them.

Toaplan made some good stuff, you ought to check out some of their other shooters (and also games from Cave which was formed from ex-Toaplan members).

Sorry to derail the topic. Uhm, I still recommend headphones that cover your ears :)
