voice recorder

Which Hotfix-Version are you running?

Did you upgrade any packages from the angstrom-repository (with opkg)?

Do you have a file ".asoundrc" in your users home-directory? ( open a terminal an type as normal user "ls -la ~/.asoundrc")

What I can say so far is, that I am running a rather fresh installed Hotfix6 beta and didn't modify anything alsa-related as far as I remember. So usually it should just work with the instructions mentioned in this thread.

Currently I haven't got much time. But I will try to answer any reply of you sooner or later.

so i was futzing around with the audacity prefs, trying to figure out how to make the input work (before i came across this thread), and nothing seemed to work. then i noticed that nothing on the whole system was making any sound. not sure what i did, but vlc gives me an error "potential alsa version problem: vlc failed to initialize your sound output device (if any). please update alsa-lib to version [blah blah blah] or higher to try to fix this issue."

Hrmmm, I was unable to reproduce this issue through Audacity. Are you positive you didn't edit any files?

I'm having trouble with audacity,i have set it up through mixer settings and when i press record in the audacity the level bars don't move left to right, which says l and r and my voice doesn't record at all.

@Ocean, hm. I haven't got a real clue. I just tried it out and it works for me when i start audacity and directly press the record-button. Is the recording device set in the settings? (edit -> scroll down -> preferences). At "Recording" i have the device-entry "omap3pandora: (hw:0,1)" and channels set to mono. Interface-host is ALSA at the top.

Also you could try to delete the appdata-folder of audacity. That would reset all settings and sometimes it helps to get rid of strange issues.

Oh yes i actually forgot about that, yes you are right,it works perfect now.

When i'm recording it tells you that only 11 minutes left,is it reading slot 1 or 2.

As i'm aware that the card in slot 1 has more memory than slot 2 one.

It should use the slot, in which the sd with audacity is in, as it will record to the appdata, when you didn't specify something else.

Crashes when I specify the temp folder to be on the SD card, unfortunately :(

i.e. after restarting it claims "Could not find temp directory", and doesn´t boot at all for me.
