We didn't get skype,there is one called google voice can that be ported to pandora.

We don't have any voice calls app on pandora,we are really missing on that,is there any app where we can do voice calls on pandora without using mobile phone.

Ekiga won't work, but I remember someone got voip software running under pandebian.

See post no 3 and 4 here by myself and mcobit respectively, post 1 being your own Ocean.

Unless Google voice can be ported (unlikely) then we are still in the very same boat im afraid to say :(

I'm no coder so please don't shoot me down here.

Is there any way we could run a basic version of android to make use of Skype on that?

Certainly not meant as any shootdown (same goes for my reply to Ocean, as I'd love a working VoIP package aswell), you should see this thread regarding Android on Pandora http://boards.openpa...ra-help-wanted/ as it did reach a certain point.

Cyberworm was able to put together a working build, eventually get wifi working well and fix touchscreen issues but it was with a borrowed Pandora for a thesis of his and I'm not sure if it has progressed beyond that point (post 170 or so in that thread). Also some of the image files for it were possibly upon megaupload, since gone due to SOPA (and perhaps whatever music selling model they had cooked up to cut out the middle men in favor of the artists).

I haven't tried the latest image of Droidora personally (as the seams of things unravalled about me around that time) and thus am not sure if it still works with Dave1234s SD Installer PND, which you can find here http://boards.openpa...a-sd-installer/ repo http://repo.openpand...tall-2011-03-10 or even, where the latest image is. However I am doubtful that Skype will work via that method at this time.

Be aware the thread of Droidora descends into Android arguments from time to time aswell :)

Excellent thank you for the link, that's some thread.

When I think of the software that could be used if the Pandora ran Android as a 2nd OS it's mind-blowing.

Pretty sure this has been asked before, but what are the logistics behind a wrapper similar to GINGE or WINE for android?

Exceedingly difficult. As far as I know, only RIM has done any research into such a thing. No one in the open source community has cracked that egg yet.

Did you say pandebian,that doesn't work properly on pandora.
Took a bit of fiddling around but I got Pandebian working fairly well. once I get my Pandora back from RMA I can give it a whirl.

Pandebian DOES work on Pandora very well. I use openoffice with it.

Kinda late to the party, but Linphone is available on the Pandora

Yes. I've run it both on my Windows PC and my Pandora, and conversed with myself. It's not a great test, but it seemed to work alright

hum, if that's with my build then I'm interessed in a howto ;) (probably "just" an alsa config, but I never managed to get it :( )

Yep, it's with your build - I even put a comment on the repo entry. The volume was quite quiet even when I maxed (I think, it was a while ago now)...

I should have a bit of time tonight, so I'll try it again, and document it. I'm pretty sure I didn't have to do much to get it working (if anything at all).

Okay, this is how I got it to work

1. Start Linphone up on your desktop PC

2. Linphone->Preferences

3. Enter a "username" - I don't think it's required though

4. Click Done

5. Start Linphone on your Pandora

6. Linphone->Preferences

7. Again, enter a "username" - I don't think it's required though

8. Make sure the ports are the same (if you've left defaults, you'll be fine)

9. Where it says "Current Identity" on one of the devices, enter the bit inside the angled brackets <> into the "SIP address or phone number" at the top of the window on the other device.

10. Click the green call button.

This time I tried it, I didn't get audio from the Pandora to the desktop. I'm sure I did last time. Are there any PNDs/apps floating around to test the mic on the Pandora?
