Video game based movies

It depends on how they'll write it... I mean, I found Rampage a funny game, so, I suppose that the movie should be funny... but mainly a big monster in a city it's not funny at all on movies, and at the end them all became horror movies (or action/horror)...

Also the story in the game is very limited to what you find on the manual... and you can't make an entire movie based on that little paragraph... they'll have to write from scratch the entire story.

If they'll make an horror movie, it will be lost inside the pile of all the others big monsters movies, but, it they change the cards on the table and use the idea to make a comic movie, well, then it will be some kind of thing that will be recognised better, something like "Frankenstein Junior".

EDIT: I have a vision of a movie entirely based on the monster's first person view... maybe without dialogs, you just see it look around, take some trash, smelling it and throw it away with a disgusted sound... and then wander around looking at other things with other funny reactions...

At some point you start hear some screaming, and see some people fleeing away in terror and so on... it must be refinished and all, but it should work for me.

Don't forget that many horror and science fiction movies are also comedies.  Even if they aren't intended to be comedies many are also popular because of how funny or cheesy they are.  Many of the classic big monster movies fit into this category; they may have been popular when they came out for a variety of reasons, but they remain popular because they have a fun story and goofy looking stop motion animation, or a person in a stupid looking suit.

If there are any genres that Rampage can be successful in it is the cheesier side of horror and science fiction.  The fans there, of which I am included, have a different appreciation and expectation of such films.  I am pretty sure this was the target audience of the game, so it makes sense for the movie to be made to this standard.  I think Sam Raimi may be the best person to have behind this, and he might be able to get a decent budget.  There are others I can think of that might do it better in one way or another, but I agree it needs to have heavy elements of comedy.  A big budget might actually ruin Rampage if it isn't handled properly.  It shouldn't be treated as one of those big budget, super serious, summer blockbusters.

How about the rumor of Netflix bringing a live action Legend of Zelda series? Personally I don't think it'll work, there's too much variety in the Zelda series: no matter what they do there'll be massive complaints that it either isn't "zelda enough" or it's "not original enough", know what I mean?

I would love to see a Metroid movie though, that's something that could be done beautifully with the right directory.

Why Blizzard don't do it's own CG Warcraft movie with the same team used for their games ?! I just can't understand that... the cinematics are always awesome !!

Yep. Beats me too.

This half-breed with bad actors that don't fit into the CG design at all doesn't make any sense.

So, I've seen the Warcraft movie yesterday via BD rental and it actually wasn't that bad. It was certainly on another level than the usual Uwe Boll crap.
The orcs were awesome and the other races (as extremely brief as their screen time was) too, just the humans were really "meh", probably because there were hardly any good actors in it.
Effects were very good of course and didn't stray too far from the original material, story was ok, character development was good on the orcish side.

Overall rating:
+1 for the Horde
-1 for the Alliance
