Hi!
the aim of my errand is to use a USB1.1 GPS mouse with my Pandora without the use of an external hub.
Things I can tell for sure (because I tried them):
# The GPS mouse does not work when connected directly to the type A jack.
# The GPS mouse does not work when connected to the mini-B jack using an adapter.
# The GPS mouse does work when using a hub that is connected to the type A jack.
I guess the reason why the 2nd combination (adapter on mini-B jack) does not work is that the port does not provide 100mA (according to the data sheet of the GPS it needs 100mA).
So I thought: why not splice up the GPS's mouse cable and connect the white and green wire (data) to the mini-B jack and get power through the red and black cable from the big type A jack. That's exactly what I did and it turns out it doesn't work either ;(
Can anyone of you tell me if I'm doing something stupid and that's the reason why it won't work? Any suggestions? Should it work as I imagined?
PS: the mini-B plug that I use is from a data cable that came with my canon digi-cam. This cable cannot (could not) charge the pandoras battery. Maybe thats the reason why the GPS mouse does not work... but instead of cutting another cable I thought I might as well ask you guys first
edit: typo in thread title; of course it should say 100mA
