A few months ago I won a TE handheld on ebay for roughly $180 US, which came with like 8 games, the system of course, a case to keep it all in, a weirded-out ac adapteter that works when it's convenient, and a tv tuner (the reason why I bid on that auction in particular). I love it, except I cant keep using like 900 batteries to keep her running. It's time for a new ac adapter, and this time one that works.

Any suggestions are helpful, as I am going to be blunt and say that I am a fucking moron who knows nothing about electronics :D.

I have like every handheld ever made (i collect em), so I guess I would prefer one that can work with others as well like the atari lynx and *maybe* the game axe.

I don't know what the problem is that you are having with your AC adapter, but I brought my Turbo Express many years ago brand new. And I had problems from day one. I use a thick rubber band to hold my AC adapter plug in the TE unit itself. It seems a little loose and needs to be held in place. If I don't keep the rubber band wrapped around the top of the unit, the jack or plug will jiggle as I play causing the unit to restart or turn off. I have lived with this for over tens years now. I just thought that it was just one of those things that you accept and go on. <_< The rubber band works for me.

Turbo Zone is right down the street from me... he's a great guy and yeah he should have turboexpress stuff in stock still, matter of fact I think he still has the systems as well.

And much of the stuff he has is actually brand new, factory sealed. I bought a multitap from him and it was in 100% mint condition never opened, no yellowing of the plastic or anything.

When you do pick up one, make sure you get the original AC adapter and not some radio shack deal. The Turbo stuff has a funny voltage. I have dealt with the Turbo Zone folks before, they have the original stuff. Great place! I am glad they are still around. I have gotten some games from them that I couldn't find any where else. :D

I just recently bought a japanese Duo R and also an original white PC Engine... tracking down some stuff has been fun.

The white PCE didn't come with an a/c adapter, I found that my original Sega Genesis a/c adapter works perfectly with it. No funny voltages here. I find that a lot of my systems have compatible plugs for this or that, especially older systems.

Daclassicgamingmaster - recommendation for you, get the PCE flash cart... it's a bit pricey, like $150 or $200 I spent if I remember correctly, but then you can play EVERY game ever on your Express, it can region fix games so you can play jap and american games no problem. Hucard games are expensive now on Ebay... I bought a bunch when I first bought the Duo and then kicked myself when I found out about the flash cart.

Flash cart? You mean in the same sense as a GBA flash cart (ie for roms and shit)? Hmm, I might have to get a Turbo Duo myself...

The Turbo Express and the Turbo Grafx 16 both use a 7 volt adaptor. Anything other than that could damage the system. You are right about the Duo R, it uses a 10 volt adaptor. If the PC Engine is the same as the Turbo 16, you could be burning your unit up with the higher voltage. The Sega Genesis, I believe uses a 10 volt adaptor. ;)
