The industry we all know and love is just changing with the times and sadly it is often times not for the better.
A game like this could never get released 10 years ago by capcom, but this is standard fare on IOS now. Cheap, rushed to market crap that can pull in a couple of fast dollars because it has a name brand and it is cheap for consumers. Now don't get me wrong, there are some true gems on IOS, but they are far and inbetween.
Look at the VITA, it just released last week during the holidays in Japan, and it sold less than the 3DS did during the off season earlier this year, WTF?! 5 years ago the Vita would have sold out with lines around the blocks during this time of year. I don't see either of these systems doing as well as their previous models, which is a shame, because they are both very nice dedicated "GAME" machines(with true Fucking game controls). I can't stand virtual controls, but all those millions of Apple sheeps can't seem to get enough. I guess if I grew up in this day and age, I might feel the same way, so who really knows?
A crap version of Megaman X would have only been seen on the Phillips CDi, or some other crap system back in the day. Now, it can be sold on any phone and sell to a decent amount of consumers. This is only going to get worse before it ever gets any better.
Capcom, Konami, Bandai, ect., only really know how to do business one way, and the world gaming audiance is changing, and these guys just can't keep up. I am so tired of Metal Gear, Street Fighter, and the like. These companies have so much great talent, but sadly new IP's some times don't sell well, and that means they just keep going back to the same well over and over again.
Treasure was formed by guys at Konami who where tired of just releasing the same crap every few years(castle vania, metal gear, ect), and struck out on their own. Now they don't pull in the numbers that Konami does with releasing Metal Gear over and over, but they have released some of video games finest works over the last decade and should feel proud of that. You will never see that kind balls from any of the big players anymore. Hell, even Miyamoto San just keeps turning out the same Nintendo rehashes year after year. What was his last original idea, Pikmin? We all know he can do almost anything, and we still see the same games every year because that is what the company can depend on to sell well.
It's all becoming a HUGE joke really, and sadly I'm not laughing!
