have u read anything above?? lol sorry
its not a question of whether u could code something
its just how u would get it to run
even if you did mod it how are u gonna write UMDs??
and i seriously doubt that sony will release emus
The only way its going to be possible is if someone commercially manufactures a UMD that loads games from the MemoryStick. (Watch sony come down hard on the first person to try THAT!)
Or, if some game makes a slip up that can be taken advantage of via the EXT or USB ports like PSO on the GC does. (yeah thats gonna be fun....playing a portable system hooked up to your PC...such portability there...)
Or, even less likely, Sony gives the PSP the ability to load homebrewn, unlicensed games, that they make no money from, directly from the MemoryStick. (and hell will freeze over).
Thats all. There are no other real possibilities. You have a custom proprietary media format, that no device can write to, on a portable unit, with the best protect schemes to date, made by the largest game console manufacturer in the world.
All in all, the chances that the PSP will turn into a large homebrewn device don't look very good.
The only reason the PS1 and PS2 even had the small homebrewn scene they do have is because they use a widely available media format.
Honestly I would love nothing more than to see a large, easy to be a part of, homebrewn community for the PSP. With that power and backing it would become the best hand held ever. (it probably will be regardless of a homebrewn community)
But, realistically that has about as much of a chance of happening, as we have of Nintendo officially supporting homebrewn GBA emulators!
