Are Transcend cards any good? That price seems so low compared to the competition it's got me wondering what's wrong with it.

Well, they're certainly not top-tier, but I don't recall hearing many compaints about them.

I do photography professionally (really just means I get paid to shoot weddings/events and own tons of gear). I've had more corruptions from the Sandisk extreme III and Ultra II series of CF & SD cards than my transcend 150x sd and 133x 8gb CF cards. Transcend are the only cards I use now. I'm not a terribly big fan of the sandisk. Feel free to take that how you will.

Sure you already said you were going to buy them, but I figured I'd throw in additional support for Transcend. Got my 16 GB SDHC card from Transcend last week and it seems to be working just fine. Class 6, and faster than any USB flash drive I've ever had too.

I decided to go with it since it had mostly positive reviews from Newegg.

Yeah, I ordered my first card last night. I'm planning on a pair, but will see how much the prices change by the time Pandora is released before ordering another.
Still, it's good to see so many people are happy with their Transcends. The only criticism I've seen is that they apparently don't come with plastic holders, but that doesn't strike me as a major problem.
Now, I'd like to contribute to the dev fund and perhaps order a case, but the shop seems to have been removed from the site altogether when I had thought they would just take down the "order a Pandora" links. Hopefully shopping functions will be restored before that unknown date next year when the second batch becomes available. I know from reading this forum that a lot of people are planning to make dev fund payments in future.

Just reply to your order confirmation email and tell them what you want to do.

I'm definitely gonna stick with my 8GB class 4 Sandisk SDHC microSD (with an SD adapter) for now, at least until the exchange rates drop (stupid crisis...) or some really good deals for 16GB cards pop up.

I wasn't trying to insult Transcend with that statement, I was just saying that they aren't one of the top-tier companies.

And as for the Sandisk topic: I've never had problems with any of my Sandisks. *knocks on wood* But I plan on buying Panasonic 16 GBs this time around, because they are top-tier, reliable, and always a good $20 or more less than a SanDisk card with the same specifications.

Actually, I've heard SanDisks cards are just about the worst out there...

I certainly do not think so (and I have number of SanDisk cards), but they do fail, usually after few years of service and hundreds of reformats.

More annoying thing about SanDisk is that the brand had fell victim of its own success and counterfeit copies are rampant. Which explains high failure rate of flash cards with "SanDisk" sign on them.

BTW, I've found Trancend 8.0GB SDHC Class 6 for mere 14.13GBP here

isnt that expensive? 16gb are available for a couple of quid more http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electro ... oduct.html in fact with free postage this is less than a pound more for double the storage

although Id probably go for this one at 16GB for double the price at £32 with a card reader free too http://www.bigpockets.co.uk/product.php ... INSDH16G4R

"Play" ? I never heard of this brand of flash cards :p No, really, these components do fail and there is certain level of quality testing that I expect from known brands.

Also, you can have Trancend 16.0GB SDHC Class 6 for 27.84GBP at memorybits . I just prefer my memory in smaller chunks (I ordered 3 x 8GB - because I know I will eventually have to throw used up cards)

I dont know who makes the Play cards but Play are a good company and I would never have anything on one of these cards that if lost cause me any major problems.

Double the memory for that price i would rather have 2 16Gb and use one as a backup slot for th eother one then im doubly safe :D

My card arrived today, just two days after I placed the order on Amazon.co.uk. Not bad at all.
There are a number of third parties selling the cards through Amazon, the one I used is called WS Inspire.

For anyone near Michigan, Meijer has an 8GB class 4 card from Dane-Elec for $23.99. That's before sales tax, but it's one of the better deals I've seen that isn't online. Never heard of that brand before though.

Here is a guide to help avoid getting suckered on eBay.

Woot is selling class 4, 4 GB micro SD cards with SD adaptors for $6 today:

http://www.woot.com/

They'd be good if you also wanted to use these in some other device that needs micro SD cards. You'll have to get on this pretty quickly though, Woot is very likely going to sell out.
