Also: printers. I got an A4 one in great condition for free. Or so I thought. Bought 3rd party inks and printed a bunch of nice pictures. Let it sit for a few months and tried printing again - no print head detected. Of course the most important and expensive thing breaks. Oh well. I guess there's a foot or two of cable in there and a few motors with encoders, metal rods and rollers... just today was at the recycling yard (probably not what it's called in English) and with heavy heart looked at e.g. a maybe two years old cordless vacuum with all its parts. I am super curious as to what nice components I could salvage. Apparently nobody gives a damn about electronics at this place.
