I'm totally not on top of tethering, not having ever done it :) (okay, I did do it a few times about 7 years ago while working on a bluetooth stack but it was long ago and I did it like twice :)

Anyone ever gotten pandora and iphone talking nicely .. Either via usb or bluetooth?

The general answer is no, but I'm wondering if there is a single yes :)

It's my understanding that this can only be achieved after 'jailbreaking' (ugh, horrible term - it's basicially getting root-access) the iPhone.

you need to have a profile installed on the iphone that enables the tethering option, no need to jailbreak!

that option, though, is usually only available for an additional mobile contract fee. If so, you'll find a Internet-Tethering option within your Iphone's Network settings.

on windows you just need to plug in your iphone cable and you're ready to go (only tried it once), on the pandora i've no clue, sorry.

Not exactly true.

In order to jailbreak, you need iTunes on the computer you're tethering with. To remove this need for iTunes, it's required to jailbreak the iPhone. MyWi is a wireless tethering ap for jailbroken phones, that would allow you to tether any device, including the Pandora.

In the upcoming iOS 4.3, they will be including wireless tethering as a feature of the phone, so no more jailbreaking will be required for this purpose.

Interesting; I'm on Fido in Canada, who does permit tethering. (Goofily, the iphone 3gs tether page redirects to 'buy iphone4' .. asshats :)

So in theory my plan/phone are equipped without jailbreak.

(I used to jailbreak the device, but haven't bothered lately; I figure I can have one device that should 'just work' and 'be supported' .. since I basicly reflash or mod everythign else I thgouht this year, I'm going to take it easy on the phone. So then I jailbroke it anyway..)

Maybe iOS 4.3 will make it easier, but I doubt it ;)

Has anyone actually had their iphone and pandora tether successfully? It sounds like above, yes, but just come right out and say it ;)

Maybe I shoudl get the jailbreak app to do it, just to see it ;)

Yes, I have. With the app MyWi, from the Cydia store, the tether works perfectly.

I'd suggest just waiting until iOS 4.3. You'll be able to turn your phone in to a wireless hotspot and have your Pandora connect to it. No ned to jailbreak.
