Steam Machine 2026 on sale (pre-order)

I read somewhere he played already for a long time, like 20 hours or so. Restarted the system, than played the 5 minutes and installed the update. But I cannot confirm this from good sources.
And when looking back to the sources I used; the 'official' story, by the original poster is that he didn't play much (5min or so) and installed an update, causing the system to be bricked with the red-light.

Afterwards he posted this:
"Anticlimactic and somewhat embarrassing update: as some people suggested, I left it unplugged for about half an hour last night and then tried plugging it back in... and it didn't work. So I left it unplugged for a couple of hours and then tried it again before bed... and it didn't work. Same error light despite multiple power-cycling attempts. So I left it unplugged overnight and plugged it back in today to try some of the BIOS stuff that other people suggested... and it booted up immediately without issue.
I feel stupid about even posting this now, especially since it blew up a bit, but I was tired and irritable after a long day of work, and an ominous GPU error code wasn't exactly the seamless plug-and-play experience I had hoped for. But I guess if anyone encounters the same error, don't panic like I did, just let it sit for a few hours and it will somehow sort itself out. Anyway, I'm sorry for the false alarm, thanks to everyone who suggested solutions, and now I'm going to spend this weekend playing Crusader Kings until my eyes hurt."

to be clear: i'm going to use my SM primarily for emulation. phase out all playstations.

I'm still waiting for a Pyra...
The Pyra also has a red light to, for charging. If it blinks I think it's not charging or battery is almost empty.
I thought the multicolor lights wouldn't be my thing, but I usually do enjoy the lights though.
Hope you'll receive it soon, it's has been a long time already, and that you can also enjoy the red light experience.

I just received this email from Steam about the Steam Machine pre-order:
Please confirm your purchase information within the next 3 days to finalize your order.

I was a bit late with the controller pre-order, so this is a much faster way to receive the controller :p

The Steam Machine is great for someone not wanting to configure anything, but that's really not the point of it. What is curious is Valve released SteamOS out for regular hardware (AMD GPU still recommended) for free and this was just days prior to the release of the Steam machine, If Valve really cared about max sales of this hardware, they wouldn't have done such a thing. So the point is to get people to switch from Windows, which I'm all for. I primarily just use regular Fedora now, it does just as good, may loose a few FPS, but don't play anything where that matters.

Generic PC architecture killed UNIX workstations, mainframes, and countless superior technologies. I guessed it will kill video game consoles. Seems inevitable.
