Steam Machine 2026 on sale (pre-order)

Idiotic price it will fail
Yes. But I think it will still sell. It was rumored the original price was going to be 839, still not cheap, but due to increased RAM prices they raised the price.
Valve mentioned they won't sell at a loss, like with an Xbox which actually is sold with a big loss (caused by the same high RAM prices, Microsoft is now even looking into dropping Xbox).
The big difference is in size and integration with your TV. You can build a faster PC with this money, or buy a PS5 Pro, but it won't be the same as this Steam Machine. Still expensive though.
And, probably most people can't buy one if they want to. And, it's more of a PC, just in case you want to have a PC and gaming-console (including RAM upgrades, if prices drop again).

Everything is at an idiotic price now - such is the world we live in.
8TB SSD (yes, SSD/SATA not NVME): last year 600euro, now 2400euro.
4TB version, almost 1400euro:

people aren't gonna buy and companies are gonna stop making games.

now the 16g sd in my everdrive gba just started failing. dammit. this is real.

At least my Steamgames are allready running fine on my GPD Win Mini, and some of them even on the AYN Thor, i would be more interested in an Clamshell Steamdeck 2 which is smaller and lighter..

Well, maybe the Pyra/Pandora will now be relatively cheap and will get more users.

I think the Steam Machine will be sold out really quick as they didn't produce many. And a new Steam Deck won't be around soon I think. They only want to introduce one if it makes a significant difference. I would like a clamshell version, though I think it would be too bulky.

Also, the new Steam VR glasses probably work with the Steam Machine to, so that would be nice.

how on earth is QVO SATA twice as expensive as WD Black 8TB 2280 NVME???
I think it's because people (or companies) that needs 8TB SSD's don't have many options compared to higher-end systems which use NVME. Maybe they also stopped producing these drives.
Also, the sky is the limit in pricing stuff ridiculously high.
