If possible, please try to keep Pyra specific stuff desktop environment agnostic. I really like using i3 and I don't want to have a less functional Pyra because of that.
Yes, as with the pandora I'd expect all the back end of the tool to be represented by scripts, for example to turn on/off the wifi. You'd have a hard time running something like the pandora's configuration app thingy on i3, but the scripts that back it can be run from anything linuxy.
