I just have the official HDD and Network adapter for the PS2 (modded) and everythign works fine.

I might not quite understand the thread that much , BUT why hook up an old HD when you could just get the official one from sony?? stupid question I know...
Because then you don't have to pay for it, and you can get more than 40 gigs.

ooooohhhh ....ok makes sense.
I am guess I am too content with what I have....
Maybe someday I ll upgrade... thanks Dozer

Well, if you have the official sony hd that you got for using FFXI, you're going to need a different hard drive anyways because hdloader is not compatible with the way sony sets up drive for FFXI. Yeah, save up a hunder bucks and get a 120gb drive. If you don't feel like hacking up the network adapter, get a Maxtor or Seagate one.

Oh yeah, and I have downloaded 5 discs onto my HD now and they all work fine.

Tony Hawk Underground
Devil May Cry 2 (both discs)
Hunter The Reckoning Wayward
ATV Off-Road Fury

Hacking up the network adapter? I thought you didn't have to do that and that it had the port already built-in? And why a Maxtor or Seagate HDD?

Also, what site do you guys recommend to stay up-to-date on the HD Loader, Action Replay MAX Evo Edition, etc.?

Some harddisks don't line up perfectly with the ports on the network adapter so you might need to do a bit of shifting to get them in line. Most work fine though so don't worry.

I have the hdloader, the network adapter and just need to buy a harddisk and I'll be away. Can't wait for some reduced loading times in need for speed underground B).

According to people who I have heard have done so, yes. They tell me you can rip or download the games, hook up the HD for your PS2 to your comp and use a program called hdl_dump (or hdl_dumb) and basically install the disc onto the hard drive. Then load them from the menu of HDLoader.

Well, that's what I got.

Woo, you know of a guide or anything?

I got my maxtor 120 gig this morning. Works like a charm, installing metal gear solid as we speak. It's a bit of a bummer I can't install my pgen and snes station disks, but then maybe I need a chip for those.

Installing wipeout fusion now :D.

It's pretty irritating that you can't go online with ripped games though, especially when you have to have the hardware to go online in order to rip the games in the first place.

I've heard there is a way to do it, but you need to edit the game on the pc and burn it to dvd, which involves a dvd burner and a chipped ps2. I have neither :D (well I'll chip it soon, but still no dvd burner ;)).

I'm not bothering with chipping mine at all. You can load backups of games off your PC's hard drive onto your PS2's hard drive with the hdl_dum* program. You connect it like a regular hard drive (but Windows won't see it), and use hdl_dumb to locate and iso on your system then it will install it for you.

EDIT: BTW, I haven't heard of anyone getting any kind of emulators working with HDLoader.
