Ps1 Emulation Capacity

PSX emulation is not a given for the GPX2, although it's possible I think.
a talented programmer needs to try and take on the challenge, and it WILL be a challenge.

Without a dedicated 3-d processor, the polys will have to be rendered in software as well as having the main cpu emulating the psx cpu (33Mhz RISC cpu as I recall) the drive control and the various other custom chips.

I wouldn't hold your breath waiting to play even those 'ugly' games with lots of polys, i'd hope for one capable of playing Castlevania: SOTN and if it does come out i'm gonna make sure to send the programmer enough of a reward to have a massive piss-up on me., they'll have earned it. :)

I thought the gp2x only had the ability to do 2d graphics, therefore a ps1 emulator will be impossible.

I'm no GP2x guru - but whilst the graphics processor is not 3d this does not preclude 3d games/apps - It's just that the processor doesn't have built in 3d routines.

I may wll be wrong ( replace may with probably )

I'd say the guy that just ported that open transport tycoon, will give a go at porting his emu as he said in the comment...
OpenTTD works suprisingly well on the GP2X! It give's me hope that my PSX emu port will go smoothly as well!

So you never know... I'd sure like to get FF7 finished once and for all.

I really dont see the 2X beimg able to play more than 2d action games like Gunner's Heaven or Silhoette Mirage. Granted these two are mad cool games but non the less probably the only type of game possible at a playable speed as calculating Polys will probably be a bitch until someone gets the hang of dual processing.

well zotttd will be giving his psx port a go, and he is one mightily impressive coder, so if anyone can, he can!
