Prboom 2.5.0 For Wiz

The above post does work, the copied config file should look like this:

dir /mnt/sd/timidity/
# I've tweaked the amps pretty well, they should sound pretty good as they are
# now. If you don't like the balance, just change it :)

# Many patches are forced to note=xx, since they are keyed to C4 or some
# other note rather than to the key they are played on in the set. It is
# simpler to change the .cfg file than edit the patches :) All the congas
# really are best keyed to note=62, those aren't typos.

Thanks for the help, is there anyway of getting a fixed TNT WAD without the yellow key bug? (I've only got the one off the CD)
I've managed to do this now with DOOMPATCHER, it makes a fixed TNTYK.WAD, just delete TNT.WAD and rename TNTYK.WAD to TNT.WAD.

WARNING. If you update your firmware, you saves and settings will be deleted. :angry2: As they save somewhere on the NAND not the SD card, why?? (The same goes for Quake)

Works really great. Excellent work. :)

2 issues:
- That timidity link above is broken (I guess it's a result of the recent forum upgrade).
- And there is quite a bit of diagonal tearing.

Noticed another thing. This time it's a real (albeit tiny) issue. I rebound some keys. Like:

Y=preferred weapon
A=fire
X=run
B=use

It saved these just fine, but I also bound:

Menu=automap

works fine in game, but the next time I start I have to reassign this one.

Update: Played again today and this time it did remember the menu binding. I have no idea why it works now or why it didn't before.

I was playing it for a while today and then the battery ran out of juice. Got the usual shutdown message and then it turned itself off.

Charged it up again and decided to have another go at one of those evil Twilight levels. Unfortunately my last save game got corrupted (read error). IIRC I saved 1-2 minutes before it turned itself off. (By the way prboom won't show me any error messages or anything like that. If a save game is corrupted it will just kill itself.)

It seems like the Wiz doesn't do writes right away as it should. This might also explain the key binding anomaly I mentioned earlier.

It may be some linux thing. It seems the GP2X did the same thing until devs put in a command in their code to sync as soon as something is saved.

Hey, sorry for the bump:

I had a problem with prboom and Doom 1. Everytime I took a powerup like invulnerability, the game crashed to the wiz menu. I solved the problem changing the Doom 1 wad for another. Just posting this for anyone who had, has or will have this problem.

I can get doom 1 wads to work but no doom 2 wads or tc wads work for me :(

I think the doom2.wad needs to be updated to v1.9 according to the readmeFIRST.txt file from the Doom WAD pack for Wiz download on the archive.
( http://dl.openhandhelds.org/cgi-bin/wiz.cgi?0,0,0,0,56,323 )

There is a readme file included with each Doom conversion. Read this file to see which version of Doom is required and how to install the files.

*Note*
Doom 2 conversions may require version 1.9 of the doom2.wad. Most conversions worked before I upgraded to version 1.9. If a Doom 2 conversion doesn't work, try patching
your doom2.wad to version 1.9. The patcher can be downloaded from here: http://dumped-archives.ath.cx/zdaemon/iwadtools/

Cheers, Neil

I'm not too good with my doom engines but is this mod playable
Not according to the link you provided.

"PLEASE download zDoom (http://zdoom.org) when attempting to use this mod! It makes things a helluva lot easier!"

You are in the Prboom thread.
