Hi.

I need to switch back to r17. This version found Tomb Raider 2.bin and .cue. r18 found only the .cue and couldnt load the game.

Any suggestion?

try making a fresh image from your disk, maybe try .img/.sub/.ccd format

OR

i find that most games benefit from compression when running in PCSX ReARMed i'd advise compressing your .bin into an EBOOT, it solves things like the glitching music in Soulblade and also avoids game freezes in Resident Evil 2 (and you also save SD card space). i'd be very suprised if you dont get TR2 running this way. Maybe i should try it myself i have the disk somewhere. I'd advise making all of your .bin files into EBOOTs using a program called "PSX2PSP" it saves you a ton of space so you can fit more games on your SD and massively improves compatibility/removes glitches.

It's a new feature of r18 that it displays only the .cue file even though the .bin is also present, so that users who have multiple bin+cue games in a single folder see only one instance of each game, so that is OK.

I was curious about this new behaviour in the PCSX thread, here:

http://boards.openpandora.org/index.php/topic/6546-pcsx-rearmed-with-a-new-gpu/page-47#entry213799

Launching the .cue should work, unless the .bin is broken, there is some difference in the actual filenames, or the .cue file is incorrect in some respect?

When you upgraded to r18, did you make sure BIOS was enabled again, or change any settings?

EDIT:

I just checked my copy of TR2 under PCSX r18, and it works fine. Only the .cue shows up in the file selector, which is now normal.

The files are named:

Tomb Raider 2 (PAL).bin

Tomb Raider 2 (PAL).cue

and the .cue file (open yours in notepad to compare, if you think your .bin is present and correct) looks like this:

FILE "Tomb Raider 2 (PAL).bin" BINARY

Note that in the first line, the filename must match the .bin including upper/lower case.

My .bin is 708.0 MB (742411152 Bytes)

Which one did you choose in previous Versions of PCSX ReARMED ? If I am guessing right you choose the bin file, which means Asmo pretty much hit the nail:
Launching the .cue should work, unless the .bin is broken, there is some difference in the actual filenames, or the .cue file is incorrect in some respect?
Open your cue file with a texteditor and search for "somefilename.bin" replace that with the filename of your bin file

PSX2PSP is Windows only, im using only Linux / Ubuntu, but thanks for the tip. B)

My Tomb_Raider_2.bin works great with r17, but not the .cue.

The filename inside the .cue match the .bin . I reached the level "opera house" loading the .bin in r17. :)

My .cue looks different. Many PREGAP and INDEX-times are different.

I couldnt understand the reason for deactivating the .bin-files in r18. :(

Presumably your .cue file is correctly named -

Tomb_Raider_2.cue

To match the .bin, and the first line of any .cue you use will be:

FILE "Tomb_Raider_2.bin" BINARY

My .cue looks different. Many PREGAP and INDEX-times are different.

I couldnt understand the reason for deactivating the .bin-files in r18. :(
The .bin files are not deactivated, just hidden to keep folders with multiple games tidy! As the .cue file needs to be correct to identify the locations of cd-audio tracks, it gets prominence. If the .cue appears incorrect to PCSX, it will display the .bin instead - but it will still need the .cue file to be present and correct in most other respects. For example, the .cue MUST have the exact same filename, and it will still try to use it to identify the position of audio tracks.

When I experimented (see the link in my previous post to the PCSX thread) I found that if I changed the extension to all capitals in the first line of the .cue file, BOTH files showed up like they used to. You could test that, by changing your .cue file's first line to:

FILE "Tomb_Raider_2.BIN" BINARY

Is your Tomb Raider 2 a PAL (UK/Euro) release, or an NTSC (US/Japan) release or other? If it's the English PAL release, you could use my .cue and see if it works.

Backup your .cue somewhere else, then just copy the entire text of my .cue above into yours, overwriting everything in it. Make sure the FILE line at the top has the exact name of your .bin file.

If your TR2 isn't the UK/Euro PAL release - it probably isn't if it's .cue is so different, you may need to use a .cue file that is specific to whatever version you are using - you can get most of these from redump.org:

Under the heading "Tomb Raider 2":

http://redump.org/discs/quicksearch/tomb-raider-2/

Under the heading "Tomb Raider II":

http://redump.org/discs/quicksearch/tomb-raider-ii/

When you select a game version to see it's details, you can download a cue sheet for that version in the 'downloads' bar just above the game title. Remember to change the FILE line so that your exact .bin name is there instead.

If you are unsure what version it is, when you run the game (under r17 - which will also confirm that your .bin is good or not) and press space to go to the PCSX menu, you should see the "SLES" (or similar) identity at the top of the screen in blue - that will help you identify which version of the game it is.

@Asmo
The .cue is correctly named, the first line is correct. As written, everthing works great with r17. I start the .bin there and I could see every movie and sound in the game. If pcsx needs the .cue to read and play all the movies/sounds it must be correct.

Here is my .cue:

@notaz
Great. Thanx for the tip. I can choose the .bin again and play the game. :D

It might be a good idea to attach the actual .cue file so Notaz can take a look - the problem might be in the file itself not just the contents, which are probably correct for the version you are using - you can attach it by selecting the "more reply options".

What version of the OS are you using Palmiga?

Might be worth redownloading PCSX and deleting your PCSX appdata folder for a fresh shot at it.

I use SupperZaxxon V1.53.

Well, the Y-key solved the problem for me. Could load the .bin again and it works great.
