Pandora wiki open for business. You can help.

Nobody has taken any shots, calm your horses. I just want to raise the issue that http://repo.openpandora.org/?page=all&subcat=Emulator&s=new does this, in a way that doesnt get outdated. Which the emulator list on the wiki is (?) A fate it shares with the http://boards.openpandora.org/page/articles.html/_/emulators/

Its available as a nested option from emulators, i dont think it warrants more publicity than that. If one doesnt already know about it the repo is where one would look, no?

In the sense that the wiki should do what the wiki does best, and only does it in such a manner if the message is refined down to what one wants to say.

Thoughts, #shots fired, ?

Hi i have found a Problem, please Wiki team correct that:

The Site who Containts my Premade Images are not more up

http://pandorawiki.org/QEMU_Premade_Images

It Redirect ever to this Site:

http://pandorawiki.org/QEMU

Hey i feel a little like Linux Swat, because this Wiki Cleanup dissolve some Important Sites.

I made all this Images and in Emergency can i made a new List.

Luckywise have i access to the Pandora Server who holds the Images all and repost all Links in Emergency.

But it would be nice when the Site comes Back ;)

Sorry about that, dont know what happened. The edit on the QEMU page must have not gone through or been forgotten. Its all there now though. Version numbers would be a nice feature.

I failed to do/save? any translation. Thought it was my browser and updated to firefox 25, no change. I found the translation for the android page, could click on save translation, and see the checkmark with "translated" text. What next to do?

I clicked "review" at the bottom and got a checkmark right next to my translation. It shows a popup "mark as reviewed" but i can't click it or nothing happens. If i click on "All" in the row of "all  outdated translated reviewed  and the filter list" my translations are gone.

The android page is too long to test if a full translation of the page would allow me to do save or check or review the page.

I created emulator/atari/de like the syntax of android/nb and experimented with the <translate> tag. With the translate tag i got "This page contains changes which are not marked for translation." How do i mark them for translation?

Later on

http://pandorawiki.org/Special:ManageMessageGroups
i got
[11ff08b4] 2013-11-21 11:54:33: Fatal exception of type MWException

Doesnt seem like the android page took on any german translations http://pandorawiki.org/index.php?title=Special:LanguageStats&language=de&group=page-Android

You dont create the subdomain language codes, they are generated by default after the translation is done. Before that, step 1, 2, 3

Step 1, fix english

Step 2, put translate tags in

Step 3, translate

Step 4 go see translation

Edit: Dont try to do anything in mobile mode, that seems to be broken.

 Found problem here

Solution could be:

Have to configured $wgCacheDirectory in your LocalSettings.php?
I found the translation concept introduction and the translation example. I followed everything up to step 3 (your step 2.a) of the example on emulator/apple and stuck with "After saving the page, you will see a link at the top of the page saying "Mark this page for translation" (or "This page contains changes which are not marked for translation." if you are not a translation administrator)."

The user group rights confirmed that only our administrators could use "Mark versions of pages for translation (pagetranslation)". Our translation adminsitrators could not do it (yet?) and the users couldn't do it..

Now for pandorawiki.org at all:

[461ee592] 2013-11-21 22:06:58: Fatal exception of type MWException
I feel guilty somehow.

Thanks ED! But are you sure Ingo? I managed to review 3 outdated translations and save them. I'm confused, the page Android is english and have a translation into english too? Anyway it was good for testing.

I still can't create a new translation. On the translate page i choosed message group -> All -> Android. Translate to -> Deutsch. "All" is selected on the line where the filter list box is. Android is the first text to translate. I pasted source text and saved translation. I got a checkmark with "translated" text. If i click on "hide translated" on the bottom the row with my translated text and checkmark vanishes. So far so good, but if i click on "untranslated" on the top where the filter list box is my translation is gone and i see the Android row untranslated again.

The problem with directories in pathnames is they end up changing, thus leaving the system to change. I dont know what : does, but # is the only tolerable option so long as it doenst get moved out of page.

Short, consice and explanatory page-names is best.

We dont have 5000 pages, so it makes little sense to make web 1.0 hierarchy.  https://wiki.archlinux.org/ has got it figured out.

Captured and added lots of pictures to the hardware section today. :)

pandorawiki/Audio_system

BAFelton contributed an image of the AC/DC adapter.

I dont understand why changing the language settings in the control panel has no bearing on content.

After looking for answers in the mediawiki documentation i came up with

http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Links#Interlanguage_links

http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Interwiki#Interwiki_links_to_other_languages

http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Guide_to_setting_up_interwiki_linking#Language_links

We use the translate extension so we should use the translate extension manuals too.

http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Extension:Translate/Page_translation_example

Try another page to translate. Do not use a page like /nb. Use the translation system only.

How about a short one: http://pandorawiki.org/Emulators/Atari

Translation tags added.

http://pandorawiki.org/MediaWiki:Common.css  can be used to set a global stylesheet for the wiki.  Getting rid of the table of content numbering comes to mind.

I think numbering does nothing but add an imposed threading system on headlines that is already present.

I think anyone can edit, at least moderators.

For .ogg .ogv and .webm to work it needs to be set in LocalSettings.php, which only ED can do.

https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Html5mediator#Configuration

Also the categories dont make much sense

http://pandorawiki.org/index.php?title=Special:CategoryTree&target=Categories&mode=0&hideprefix=20&showcount=1

Wiki submissions happen every day, and everything is progressing nicely. :)

I haven't been keeping up for the past 8 pages because I'm very busy working on my thesis (still). I'm sorry for this. If you guys are trying to set up something like the many-languages system on Wikipedia, that's certainly a good idea.

I would just like to mention a few things quickly.

1. The (somewhat outdated) emulator list on the wiki is still the only place where emulators can be searched for by emulated system. The value of this functionality to most Pandora users, particularly new ones, should be obvious. The natural solution to the problem of it being outdated is to bring it up to date. Proposing to destroy (or delete) stuff is easy, but building is hard. Yes, I know.

2. The (outdated) games list on the wiki is still the only place where games with various kinds of multiplayer functionality can be searched for. This certainly appeals to a smaller subset of Pandora owners, but it's still information that can't be found elsewhere. (The three software lists also list the relevant forum threads for each program listed, where users should leave their longer comments. The Repo does not, as yet, do this, unfortunately. Ideally, starting a forum thread and uploading a file to the Repo should be linked, at least in the successor system)

3. As I mentioned half a year ago, the current administration of Pandorawiki has hidden large portions of the edit history of many pages, making it visible only to admins. This is akin to hiding the commit history of an open-source software project. They have no good rationale for doing this (as the previous thread shows), and have consistently refused to answer for it. I propose that edit histories of pages be returned immediately.
