pandian - MARK3 - beta

Are there any kernel headers for this OS? I am trying to compile drivers but "apt-get install pandian-linux-headers" doesn't seem to do it.

Code:
root@pandian:/home/edgar/Downloads/rtl8187l# make
make[1]: *** /lib/modules/3.2.67-pnd01/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
Makefile:15: recipe for target 'all' failed
make: *** [all] Error 2
root@pandian:/home/edgar/Downloads/rtl8187l# ls -l /lib/modules/3.2.67-pnd01/build
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 47 Apr  9 10:19 /lib/modules/3.2.67-pnd01/build -> /usr/src/packages/pandian-kernel/pandian-kernel

Not yet. I will create a package on the weekend and upload it. Besides, ive using the default pandora kernel, no special config. If you can't wait, juts grabbed the source from here http://git.openpandora.org/cgi-bin/gitweb.cgi?p=pandora-kernel.git;a=summary

Okay i've checked my sources, because i think i've build this header package. There should be a package named pandian-linux-headers

About the wifi firmware loading:

ive startet some investigation in the kernel source. And jeah.. udev is the bad boy. The kernel sends an request to load an firmware file. Udev answer it and copy it to /sys/firmware.. well udev drop this support so this weekend i start some kernel-compiling-with-beer-weekend. I will also try to compile the latest official kernel. If it not helps, i need to take a look at the history of the firmware loader to see whats changed and maybe apply it to the pandora kernel.. whoa

I'll send you a beer :D .

Thanks for keep plugging on this.  I really like Pandian Mark 3.  Having full debian running on the metal rather than through chroot is nice :)

Well...

after the third Kernel-Compilation no success. The U-Boot load the kernel... and stay in the Black screen. Even if i compile the kernel with debugging enabled.. nothing.

So two thinks come through my mind:

* How can is access the debugging of u-boot

* maybe the device id in the kernel is wrong ( u-boot refuses to start, if the device id in de kernel is different from the id in the kernel image )

if used (like in the pandora wiki) the omap2-defconfig

Did somebody know the device id of the current u-boot ?

Did somebody managed to get boot debugging ( over telnet or something ) to work.

( i will search this forum for this ;) )

Nope, uboot is loading the kernel, try to start it and the screen stays black. I try to find how to set the machine id in the uboot boot-config, but i didn't found it.

Well debugging over these ext-connector is the next step i guess

Glad I'm not the only one that can't get (external) wifi working. Loaded the realtek module and started usb but nothing. Wanted to try out debian on pandora tonight but couldn't do much without an internet connection. And I forgot to put back the internal wifi antenna a few years ago when I switched the pandora case so internal wifi is a no-go. Wouldn't want to use it anyway when the TP-Link nano stick is so much better and faster. :p

Hoping a fix isn't too far away, no rush though. :)

Well event with the "newer" kernel 3.2.69 from git its not working.

So last hope i guess is to grab the 4.1 again and see if i get this running. (kernel is loaded but then uboot stop working somehow )

Hi,

For me too Wifi (both internal and usb dongle) stop working.

I used to switch on Wifi with pandora script, but it failed now.

When I use /etc/init.d/wl* start , the module is loaded without errors but network manager didn't see the interface.

I've to try old school method with iwconfig and wpasupplicant.

I hope a solution is close, Mark3 gives a new birth to my Pandora and make it a perfect tool for every situation.

Good luck and thanks

Thank you for keeping up the work on this. Hope you can get it up and running soon.
Yeah well.. the people out there can create amazing stuff and all the time i read about the same problem: time an real-life-work.

I dont think i can work on pandian for the next few weeks. I am on commisioning of an powerplant for the next 3Weeks

Did somebody have experience with the ext-connector and where i can get some of these ?

If you can get ED to put together a package for you, let me know how much

to Paypal to ED and I'll (happily) cover the cost.

Your work is more important Bro.  Thanks.

Any update on the kernel fixes for udev etc.?  Just curious as my system is stable so there's no need to upgrade anything at the moment.

However, I wonder if somebody may be able to help with a different problem.  I have pandian on one SD card inserted in the left SD slot.  In the right slot, I have a 64 GB SD card with my home file system.  I am unable to have this mount automatically as it seems that something is not ready in the system when it goes to mount the file systems listed in /etc/fstab.  Instead, I have to boot up, log in as root and explicitly type mount /home.

It seems that pandian does not use the old init scripts but uses systemd instead.  I'm old skool -- cut my teeth on Unix V7 :)
so I don't know how systemd works.  How can I configure systemd to ensure that my /home partition on the second SD card is loaded at boot time?

Thank you.

Is there a way to lock the screen on lid close (without use of xhost)?

I've tried to use

xscreensaver-command -lock

in /usr/pandian/scripts/op_lid.sh but that just gives me this error:

xscreensaver-command: warning: $DISPLAY is not set: defaulting to ":0.0".
No protocol specified
xscreensaver-command: can't open display :0.0

I can be "fixed" with

xhost local:username

But is there a solution that do not involve xhost?
