Ohboy Caanoo Port

Hello,

Here's a quick port of UBYTE's Gameboy emulator for the Caanoo:

Binary download
Source download

Extract the OhBoy folder and ini file to the "game" directory on your SD.

Thanks for making this version available, I've adopted gnuboy and Oh Boy, see http://code.google.com/p/gnuboy/ and http://code.google.com/p/ohboy/wiki/BuildRequirements

I've done some minor clean up of Oh Boy (no new features yet per-se) and got it working with the latest version of gnuboy, i.e. 1.0.5 which fixes/improves emulation of a few titles.

It should still build for the Caanoo and GP Wiz. I only have a desktop PC and Dingoo so I've not tested on Caanoo or Pandora. Let me know if there are problems building.

As a reminder you don;t need to build so many different versions with different controls, you can just edit the .rc file to set configuration (if anyone is interested in working on adding config via the menu please contact me, I've some ideas on that front).

I'm using OhBoyrene1.gpe, it works great with a familiar button mapping.
Now if only it supported over-clocking, because Shantae doesn't run at a good speed.

You can use the script, that Zx provided for the Caanoo-Hugo emulator to run every program overclocked, you can also use Gmenu2x to overclock applications (at least I think so, I never tried it).

Thanks for the tip, although I'm not sure the Gmenu2X method works.
Edit: Hey, turns out it does work, very nicely at that.

If someone with a Caanoo wants to take a look at http://code.google.com/p/ohboy/source/browse/menu.c there is support in the menu for over clocking, it just needs the platform specific clock set code to be added. The Dingoo and Wiz port are the only ones with over clock code at the moment.

Hello !

I've seen on this page
http://code.google.com/p/ohboy/wiki/ScreenShots#Adjustris_showing_different_scalers_in_action

that some ohboy versions let play with no scaler ... would it be possible to have this on caanoo ? I don't like the scalers and would prefer to play the games at their original resolution !

thanks !!

Hello all,

I've readapted the sources made available by renejr902. I've added a "no scaler" option in order to be able to play the gb without resizing the pixels and play at the original resolution (160x144)

it's tiny on the screen but the display is very sharp !

I would love to make the binaries and sources officialy available at openhandhelds but I don't know how to manage to do this ... It would be better than posting binaries in this thread isn't it ?

Have a nice day.

oh yes, post it and, after, will be updated in the archive ;)
don't worry

Thanks! Emulation works great so far but the ini file is not correct. It points to OhBoy.gpu instead of OhBoy.gpe. Additionally it does not return to the launcher.

Only one thing this emulator needs, and that is left and right button page jumps.

When you got a lot of roms, the scrolling is a little slow.

Apart from that its perfect now! :D

This version still doesn't allow roms inside zip files, so I compiled a new version with the most recent code from both ohboy and gnuboy projects.
It's available here.

Very nice, always glad to see continued support. :)
Actually what I'd really like to see is a way to map your own buttons, even if it's just by editing a .txt file like Cave Story GP2X.

Is there any versions of OhBoy that support super gameboy boarders? That was my favorite feature of lameboy on the ds.
