Have downloaded the al 3 genesis emulators normal, 156 and 166.

In freelaucher the OC'd ones have there respective speeds next to them

All 3 run fine... but they seem to but when i put the fps counter on all the games seem to run the same across all 3

sonic 2 for instance averages at 22fps which ever of the 3 i play

i downloaded these off gp32world.co.uk anyone know whats up

I can notice a difference, but not in FPS. I think this indicates that either the FPS is not calculated correctly, or it's also being sped up along with the program.

If you're wondering what he is talking about, GenesisEmu has debug stats - hit L and it'll appear.

This is one of those things that makes me laugh! The speed is calculated assuming that the speed is set to 133Mhz. This means that whatever the speed in reality, the emu will always use 133mhz as the constant for calculating the FPS. Therefroe, the emu IS running faster (is IS - believe me!), but the FPS shows up the same. Makes me laugh becasue people are more worried about FPS than actually trying the games playing them. Is the same thing with games on PCs. People are more worried about the figure in the corner of the screen than paying attention to the game itself!

Just enjoy! :D

Axeman, say people want to know how close a game is to running full speed do you know of a calculation or something (like say 133mhz fps*1.25 for 166mhz) that is the real FPS on 156/166 mhz?

I see now Axeman!! That's why MarioKart has shown the same FPS on SnesEmu at 166Mhz! Well, you learn something new etc....

At a guess, that is how I would work it out myself. Thing is, it actually seems to be moving faster than that when OC'd, so I'm not entirely sure. Does anyone else know for sure?

I was testing to see if my gp32 could do 166mhz could do ok as i was flicking back wards and forwards through games i was not 100% sure so wondered if the emu had been hacked properly as not all gp32's can do 166mhz.

Having gone back and switched between the standard emu and the 166mhz your right sonic does appear to be smoother..

also a couple of games still felt a bit sluggish at 166mhz as i had read comments else where that at 166mhz the emulator ran at full speed so was checking the fps.

Anyway cheers for the heads up, fairly chuffed now knowing my gp32 can do 166mhz :D and thats on my weaker rechargeables and there not fully charged :p Hopefully get the snes emus working tommorow and see how the run at 166mhz
