Do the makers of Pandora believe they will ship soon?

I still don't see "OpenPandora Ltd." as a member on the SD Association list, without it Pandora should not run SD cards any faster than One-Bit SD mode i.e. very slow. If they do, they open themselves to having SD Association bring down the hammer on them.

Actions speak more to me than talk, if I knew I was about the ship a product next month, I would have paid the license by now. BTW the list is updated bi-monthly (if I remember correctly.)

Are you sure they have to be associated with this organization, or just the manufacturer of the SD controller that's on the Pandora PC board.

Yes I'm sure of this, also MWeston has also said this.
TI has said that customers are responsible for licensing of the SD protocol so we'll have to pay for it. At least we can use their logo now. smile.gif

Okay okay, hopefully they got it under control. I wouldn't worry too much

... Secondly you don't need a license to sell things that can go faster than one bit mode...

Of course you can try to sell it, but you will then open yourself to SD Association lawyers, as 4-bit access has been patented by them.

For little history, before re-discussing issues, look here --> http://www.gp32x.de/board/index.php?/topic/47119-preventing-more-delays-sd-license/

If TI licensed the chip for everything you could do with it, each one would cost $100, and people would be complaining about paying for things that don't want or need.

There's no need to pay the license fees until you have a product ready to send out the door in most cases (With some you require a 'Development license' also, but not in the case of SD).

Since the topic is basically flame bait and that the question has been answered, I think that about wraps it up. If you want to talk about licensing issues more, then open another thread with a different name.
