Hogwarts Legacy is launching later on PS4 and Xbox One than current generation consoles, but it’s launching on Switch latest of all.

PS5, Xbox Series, PC: February 10th
PS4, Xbox One: April 4th
Switch: July 25th

I wonder if this will convince Potter fans to get newer consoles than Switch.

Seeing the Google related searches to ‘Nintendo’ is amusing. For all the success the Switch has had, even more people just want the Wii back. Ouch.

It occurs to me, it wouldn’t be that hard to put out a new Wii that’s compatible with the old discs. Just follow two rules, Nintendo: Just call it “Wii” with no prefixes or suffixes, and absolutely do not include a Wii U style Gamepad.

As Pocket and Steamdeck are in carry cases, I also put the Switch in a carry case ..
unfortunaly i forgot it because I played too much Steamdeck and Pocket and had to recharge it today ..
bought the Final Fantasy X /XII HD Remake for Switch for my next Gaming Projekt but ditnt found the FF 6 Pixel Remaster so I have to play this part on GBA Pocket..

Isn't a Wii-U just a faster Wii with a new Gamepad. You can just play your Wii games and use the original Wii-mote. I hope the gamepad isn't required, only for Wii-U games.

My switch didn't detect controllers in my dock, connected via USB.
I shutdown the Switch (hold power-button, select shutdown in menu) and started it again in the dock, and my controllers worked again.
I guess even a Switch can get USB in a weird state that requires a reboot to fix it.

Wii was nice but was ruined by "security updates" which were meant to "protect" the Wii user against having control over their Wii. My sympathies go out to those who got their Wii demoted from true computer to toddler's toy.

Personally, I think the N900 is good enough for games. It can run Frogatto, Chess, PokerTH, Bounce, Tux Race, Supertux, Klondike Solitaire through Aisleriot, and many more. It even has accelerometer controls that make it like a Wiimote. You can even make a Wiimote + Nunchuck out of them by connecting 2 N900's by using a cable with a USB Type-B Micro connector on both ends. But you would need to write the software for that as well.

Or like me never upgrade. Switch is klunky af. Wii was inspired.

I LOVE customizing my Mii.

Nintendo should focus on family gaming.
Wii had multiple games you could play with 2-4 players. Switch has many single player games to, great ones, but you can't play together in those.

I posted a video somewhere on the forum that you could save your Mii to your Wii-controller, so you could have a personal controller to take to your friends and play as your Mii there also.
I never used that feature, nor knew it existed in the first place when using my Wii often.

Hey Lambda! Nice to see you

As I have elaborated on in the past the Wii is the gift that keeps on giving. It even has an FTP server now!!

I'm currently super into CTGP-R aka Cracked Mario Kart Wii. New levels and always people gaming online (via new servers that reverse engineered the network protocol). You guys should join!! I'm "wiz" in Switzerland.

And then your friends are in the audience cheering for you, embodied in a sphynx, racing against you, etc. It's so cool. Adds a lot. I miss my friends.

Some newer games detect the crack (homebrew) and make you "upgrade" (re-install stock os) before you can launch the game - the normal way. The solution is to launch games a different way, eg via USB Loader GX or gecko.

Too bad Nintendo dislikes home brewers so much. I sometimes read the Bible on my DS using criminal (according to Nintendo, probably) flashcard hardware. Being pious has never been so criminal.

There was this guy, supposedly, who did a bunch of stuff to piss off the authorities and they killed him for it. He was also religious.

And all just because hacking his Switch.
That seems a little harsh. If he paid for it, then it is his device, not Nintendo's. I know that you can never own Windows even if you "buy" it, but that should not apply to hardware. It is scummy for software, doing it with hardware would be even worse.

But I do not support Nintendo anymore anyway, I buy my consoles for cheap on flea markets. Maybe I will get a Switch OLED in 2042.

Unfortunately I also turned away slowly from Nintendo, despite still thinking that they make some of the best games out there.

It happened, as Splatoon 3 came out.
I wanted to get that game and buy it for a discount using all those shiny gold points I had accumulated.
At the checkout I realized that there are none.
I had enough to save about 30€ last time I checked.

Somewhere in the small print it says, that those points only last for a year and vanish afterwards.
I will not buy any Switch game any more. That pissed me off too hard.
I have plenty to play now thanks to my GPD Win Max 2.
I did not even play the new Zelda, despite BotW being one of my favorite games of all times.

I will get the next gen Nintendo hardware day one, just so I have one which can most likely be hacked so I can dump stuff for future emulation if I like to.

I had only realised so far, that you don't get gold points from cartridges that'd sat on the shelf for too long.

Points expiring does not make Nintendo bad. But the very thought of Nintendo not being a provider of pure joy is unsettling. All companies go bad in the end. Thanks to capitalism.
