Nintendo E3 2013

Re: Windwaker. I think most people do find it boring (especially the sea-faring bits) , but I loved every second of it. It really is all about exploration and seeking out everything and is very rewarding if you enjoy that (I do in all the Zelda games - catching every bug, finding every heart-piece etc.) I do understand why people weren't particularly happy about that though. However, much as I love WindWaker, I won't pay full price for what appears to be  exactly the same game. The graphics don't look that much improved (hell, they were gorgeous originally - you can't really top perfection). Unless this has extra stages, dungeons or areas to explore then I'll pass - I've seen EVERYTHING the original game had to offer and I can revisit the GC version anytime. I'm a Zelda fan, not a mug.

Re: Smash Bros. I'm not a fan either, but my son loves it. I will say that it does look absolutely fantastic though - both on WiiU and 3DS.

Miyamoto's video on Pikmin 3 was lovely, and certainly didn't lower my expectations of the game I've been waiting 10years for... I've mentioned my Pikmin love before. And I'm sure I'll mention it again in the future :D

So, as a WiiU and a 3DS owner, I am disappointed, but there are some gems on the way. Trouble is, are there too few and will they arrive too late?

And what happened to Yoshi's Yarn? No mention anywhere that I've seen so far. :(

Even though I cant stand the SB franchise, I was personally hoping they would put Bayonetta in, as she is a "fight" style character, but since she is "M" rated, I guess that was a pipe dream at best.
im sure this is the exact reason they DIDNT want someone like bayonetta in smash bros, otherwise whats to say all other capcom fighting characters shouldnt be in it, and we know there are tons of capcom fighting characters. smash bros is more of a game to bring iconic characters from all other games and put them into a fighting game
Yeah, Capcom is the fighting capital of the world, so yeah, there is no shortage of characters for SB.Mega Man was the best overall choice, as he fits best with the "N" stable of characters. Mega Man was the best overall choice, as he fits best with the "N" stable of characters. Mega Man was the best overall choice, as he fits best with the "N" stable of characters. I was looking at Bayonetta more for the promotion aspect of it, not so much as she is the best choice from a fighter/beat em up stand point.

But that's the same reason why I'm sure we won't see her, as that would be advertising an M rated game in an E for everyone game, and that's goes against everything "N" stands for. Can you see a 7 year old telling mom and dad, hey this character is cool, can I get her game? Then the parents walking in while she's doing some crazy ass tongue licking, or moaning sounds? I would pay to see that, but I doubt Nintendo would want the backlash. If they where smart, they should do it as a way to drum up business, as I'm sure the bad press could only spur sales, but they don't have the balls for that. But if the WiiU is still sinking come the new year, who knows what they may or may not do. B2 being on the WiiU was one of the biggest shockers in gaming ever, so anything can happen I guess.

Bayonetta exclusive on WIiU sucks bad. I'm never going to buy a WiiU just to play that. I seriously hope it will be ported to something else later on...
Awwww ... would you buy a WiiU to play some fun games?

The new Mario World 3D looks great, and although I would have preferred it on the 3DS, or a more full blown 3D Mario on the WiiU, I loved the 3DS game, so this will be a must if and when I ever get a WiiU.
First, remember that one of the draws for this game is the multiplayer! It might not be the biggest thing in the world, but it could be fun!

Second, I have a theory, that Mario 3D World is actually very much based off of the tech/engine that was used in the 3DS version, and isn't really using the graphics capability of the WiiU and is actually a bit of a "stop gap" until a new Mario game is made.

As evidence, look at these two pictures for Mario Kart 8 and Mario 3D World.

Mario Kart's tech was certainly built from the ground up to make more use of the Wii U's modern graphics card. Mario 3D World appears like it is using simply more sophisticated versions of the same shaders from the 3DS. Mario Kart's lighting and shading engine looks much more advanced.

Thus my prediction that a mega blockbuster Mario game is indeed coming; Nintendo is using Mario World to bide their time so they can make it right, much like what they are doing with the Wind Waker remake.

I'm thirsty for new Mario games on Wii U, will be buying both those.

I hope there is a mega blockbuster Mario game coming soon too, I'm almost done with finishing collecting up all the star coins on Mario Bros U

A new Paper Mario for Wii U would be most welcome. Sticker Star on 3DS is nice and all, but wasn't the same as the old PM (Thousand Year Door etc.) games.

"Miyamoto: Nintendo's game ownership policy should operate like a toy company"

Miyamoto told Eurogamer that he thought games, like a physical toy, should remain the property of their owner.

"What's really important is viewing Nintendo almost like a toy company where we're making these things for people to play with," he said. "As a consumer you want to be able to keep those things for a long time and have those things from your youth that you can go back to and experience again.

Unless of course you lose your toybox. Doesn't matter if you were only playing with one toy at the time.

Sorry, I'm a little bitter. I just found out that I can't migrate all my previous digital downloads from my account to my new 3DS, they're tied to the old 3DS which I lost months ago. :(

The argument goes "just like if you lost a physical game, you wouldn't expect us to replace it" and that is absolutely correct: if I lost a game I wouldn't expect it to be replaced. I didn't lose a game, I lost a console, and with it my entire library. If I lose my kindle, do I lose all my e-books? If my computer explodes does Steam tell me "sorry, all gone"?

I'm hating Nintendo a whole lot right now.

Really? From what I've seen and read software and downloads are tied to your Nintendo account (just like Steam etc.). I know saves would be lost forever, but not the games themselves. The eShop clearly states that you can redownload software any time you want - this would indicate that software is tied to your account, as if you've deleted them from your 3DS how would it know that you had already bought the software?

[EDIT] It seems you could indeed be right. Just did a quick Google search and found this - http://www.google.com/url?q=http://mynintendonews.com/2013/04/22/nintendo-reitterates-it-wont-replace-lost-or-stolen-digital-3ds-games/&sa=U&ei=2My7UaD9JYqd0wW8zYH4DA&ved=0CC8QFjAG&sig2=JK2-CUVZPMwDdN78lPxKTA&usg=AFQjCNFAd6vveveKj7DKP7Z2Go7peGKGZw

I can't actually view the site, as my work has blocked access to it).

I can access this one though - http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/nintendo-nintendo-3ds-games-including-ambassador-program-titles-will-transfer-to-3ds-xl-but/

Ouch, that fecking smarts! Bad Nintendo!
