Release New Pandora-Exclusive Original Game: NubNub!

As I understand, he wrote the code of both games entirely on Pandora using the Pandora keyboard!  That's some kind of awesome!

I'm looking forward to this new game.  "Nubnub", I like it you chose a great name there, haha.

I wrote both Microbes and NubNub (and System Info for that matter) on the Pandora using the Pandora keyboard and the Pandora screen.

About the name: of course it refers to the two nubs, but "nubnub" also appears to be slang: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=nubnub

To answer Monkfish:

- It starts out really easy, and gets harder slowly but surely

- The number of levels is unlimited, they are generated on the fly, but they get increasingly hard so I doubt anyone will get beyond level 40 or so.

- Of course it will have C4A support :)

Watch the repo today!

Hope the repo issues get ironed out soon in that case, looking forward to playing this! :)

"nubnub: someone who is really lazy and doesnt do any work, but is cute about it at the same time"

Sounds like me, although not sure how cute I am :)

_wb_ why not post a "beta link" for your faithful readers here?  (if the repo is down)

... and now a word from our sponsor:

Play Rescue on C4A, and prevent _wb_ winning chocolate with a mere 150 points! </spam>

Note to self: next time I should make a better game, so I don't have to spam and bribe with chocolate to get any players :)

Looks like the repo works fine, at least the upload worked.

Grab it now, give it a try, and give me feedback!

Stardust Memories! OMG, it's years since I last... Wow, thanks :)

@ingoreis: Thanks! Also, if you replace the sneak-preview PND with the one on the repo, and then just start the game and immediately exit, it should automatically upload your highscore to C4A (if you're online and you have a C4A profile).

The game is 60 FPS and should run smoothly on a CC unit without overclocking. When I disable the frame limiter, it renders about 105 FPS on my ReBirth unit at 600MHz, or 145 FPS when overclocking.

If anyone wants to port this to something else, feel free to do so. I don't have any other handhelds and I'm not going to try to port it if I can't test it myself, but porting should be quite straightforward because it's just C++ and SDL, and most of the code is easy to adapt to other screen resolutions. Then again, I'm not aware of any other handheld with two analogs, except for the PS Vita, but that one isn't exactly very open ;)

i would say this is one of the better pnds available and the best since the competition. Excellent use of the nubs!!

Thank you for this. ;)

Homebrew on the 3DS is not yet possible afaik, and I wouldn't encourage anyone to support closed systems like that.

A port to the Caanoo or GCW Zero would probably be possible, but I don't think it's worth the effort if you have to play it without the two nubs.

Maybe someone wants to port it to Android or iOS, for use with the iCP2? Feel free to do so, but you cannot sell it for money unless you remove the music (it has a CC non-commercial license). You can sell my game with different music if you want to (the GPL allows that), and I probably won't take any steps to prevent you from doing that, but I kindly ask you to not be a jerk, and if you decide to sell my game (ported to Android or iOS), then please donate a significant percentage (e.g. 50%) of your profits to the Pandora pre-order fund.

Great work _wb_, always nice to see quality homebrew for Pandora & many thanks for the instant C4A integration.  :)

Not sure if this would have implications in terms of scoring for C4A but I'd love to see an option to start from a later level / increase the difficulty. Perhaps when you reach level 10 it would give you the option to start from level 5, when you reach level 15 it would give you the option to start from level 10 etc.
