N64 For The Gp2x

it would be possible on the gizmondo, though. Gizmondo has a 400 mhz ARM9 and
an nvidia GoForce 4500 3D accelerator.

Even more powerful than the PSP..... Makes you think what the gizmondo would be if it made it big in the industry.

I guess this would be a good opportunity to ask: I understand that the n64 can't be emulated on the gp2x, but what I don't understand is how it was emulated on the psp. (If I am correct) What about the psp allows it to emulate it but not us?

A floating point unit, 3D hardware acceleration, and similar processor architecture, among other finer details. N64 on Gp2x is not going to happen, and like it was said before, if it does, it would be too slow to be useful.

Are there any other reasons besides price that GPH didn't implement these into the gp2x?

Price is mostly what it boils down to; but GPH doesn't seem to really know what components are important. I'm glad GamePark intends to use the S3C2460 in their future game systems; that'd supply a much faster ARM9 processor, a floating point/vector processor about as powerful as the GP2X's main ARM9 on its own, a programmable DSP, and a powerful 2D/3D accelerator. With enough RAM, N64 emulation at acceptable speeds would be feasible. Probably not close to full speed, but decent.

N64 on the GP2x yeah when pigs fly.

....ook maybe not.

Actually, do you know what is really funny ? All these so called experts on this forum actually flamed me a while back for claiming that this was possible for the PSP. Just shows what they actually know doesn't it !!!

:p :p :p :p :p :p :p

I just cant WAIT to play Mario Kart 64 at 60 frames an hour!

"I'll shoot this shell at him now and in two days, it'll hit him!"
Would really suck if you missed :p

*think of a distraction from this thread* algebra: n-6=4

N-64<>2x
Or

N-64 > 2x !

i have one too, but it's bothersome to plug it, and the image is blurry so i like to emulate it :p

and by the way the gp2x is a handheld, it's quite different i think :p

Hmm.... Perhaps if you took an old LCD screen, duct taped it to the back of an N64, wired like 6 D-cells into a battery pack, you could play N64 games on the go that way.

A portable N64 or two has been built but they're huge, ugly, cumbersome devices and take tons of effort to build.

Yep, I definitely prefer the 2x.
