Mystery Of The Fday Reveiled

what would be cool is if the emus were all under 1 fxe.  just one giant emu that ran all the games.

No, that would SUCK! That 1 FXE would be massive like over 3 Mbs. What would be the advantage? None. For most emus I dedicate 1 card to each emu and that would be 3 Mb less ROMz that I could put on the card. Like for example I have 1 card for GB and GBC. 1 card for SMS/GG, actually have 3 with MD games etc. A launcher inside a launcher would also waste time as well as space. You would turn on the GP32 then go into the standard launcher, then load the emu frontend launcher, then load the emu. It is faster to turn on the GP32 and through the standard launcher just load the emu you want directly. The GP32 already HAS a launcher. If you want everything on one card (can't see why, you could not put very many from each game system on it) just put the separate FXEs on the card and pretend that it is all in one

Think about it, a 1 FXE setup is a stupid idea.

would people who are NOT devvers please refrain from telling us what is or is not possible. As far as I'm concerned the only people who are remotely qualified to say what can or cannot be done (within reason, obviously a working n64 or psx emu is never going to happen) are rlyeh, squidge, reesy et al. and hey, even they can be surprised!

or you could just set your firmware to boot straight into the emu launcher

Interesting idea such as with Aquafish's firmware you can name a game or app boot.fxe and it in / on your SMC and then hold down and then turn on power and it will go straight to that app/game or what ever.

I wonder how much memory this would free up for loading emulators? Such as Seiken Densetsu 3 (Secret of Mana 3) is a little bit over 4MB with the English patch, wonder if it would be that much more RAM for it to load...

Still doesn't solve the problem of it being too big and using up space that could be used for ROMz. Is having 15 -20 less games on the card worth it being all in one? I don't think so. And what exactly is the advantage of it in one FXE? I can't see any.

And what if you use the standard BLU FW and don't want to flash to any of those other ones?

Wouldn't free up much. The launcher is flushed out of RAM after the emu is loaded right?

we dont use multitasking, it would free up exactly 0bits

but launcher for all the emus would be indeed great one wich shows all kinds of roms that can be loaded by any femu and when you select it it automaticaly gets executed. one single big fxe is not a possbiility i gues couse it would need to much ram.
but a launcher that writes the file to be launched in some textfile wherethe than launched emu looks in would, and it would be great.

What about those of us that have only 1 or 2 systems per card like GB/GBC? That feature would be more of a pain, and if it was all in one it would needlessly take up space that could be used for ROMs. It is better to have separate, it is much more flexible that way.

uhm, when it is a external launcher like i sayd you dont have to use it?

ps: yeeha psp 1.5 plays wipeoutpure backup www.ngcdev.com

well but what about ppl with only 1 or 2 smc ?
not everyone has the money to buy 13 smc ...

i think rlyeh knows what he`s doing.. and he will give us some really great emus in 1 launcher or in 13 seperate fxes, i dont really care. maybe we`ll get both :)

the ps1 emu was never released. :/
the coder said he did it just 4 fun and to test his abilitys.
it was never playable :(

Why is it that everyone else seems to be fine with current SNES emulation. Mine runs wicked slow, and i dont think its save system works, while others aren't for BLU+? A new SNES emu version would be great!

@ Tattooman, I DO Know Dreamcast Emulation is irrelevant, it was a Joke , just as PS1/2 or N64 Emu ....

Nevertheless , DC VMU would be possible , it has some cool stuff on it need to work on it a bit ....

@ Tattooman again, I still say that NeoMame is SLOW , Neorage work ok on most PC , even "old ones" but Mame and NeoMame are far from being "optimized" in speed , and need far more power than it should ....

Just compare the Specs of your old Gateway with the GP32 .... And BTW there is NO Graphic card without Memory, it just does NOT work at all , even my VERY old 486 had some memory for its graphic chip (it had 512K) just in order to stock the data for the screen output

Therefore porting them would produce an extremely slow GP32 version ... since the GP32 is very far from the specs of even an "old" PC with like 1 Ghz proc. and 128/256 Meg RAM ...

BTW I wonder why so many people want NeogeoPocket emu , I would rather go for Snes since it has soooo much more great games than NGpocket ...

This thread makes me think of the one when Franxis released his Mame version and many people were like " Great Mame is here we gonna play KOF , Samurai Showdown and MetalSlug ..." It was soooo pointless as it's so easy to understand why these would never work on our GP32s just because they are way tooo big for the 8 meg RAM we got ...

(same about N64 BTW...)

About the FXE I also would prefer having 13 different FXEs in a zip pack , so I can choose which ones I want on the SMC. And since anyway SMCs are only 120 or so megs you can't populate them with enough roms for 13 Emus

--

I also agree with Kokonut Helmet and do not play Snes on my GP32 , so frickin' slow and no sound ... So better play it on my Snes anyway :)

Speak for your self as if NeoMAME is fast so either you are on crack or being extremly picky about the fram rates.

Again what would you play on the Dreamcast that would fit on a 128MB SMC????

If you are going to say hombrew stuff like Beats of Rgae it has been ported over and it would be eaiser to just port over the Hombrew games from DC to GB32.

My point is what is the point of porting over Dreamcast to GP32 if you can only play a few games.

Wereyou planning on hacking a Shenmue and play ti over like 20 SMC cards ro some thing?

Please tell me exactly what games you would play and why some one would wnat to go through all the trouble of maming an emulator that can't play many games to do the size?

I just hate it when people make blind statments wiht out explaining.

Also, the DC VMU sucked ass and the graphics are bad and why would any oen wnat to play those games.

If you are wanting to ahve the DC ported just for the novilty value then just say it!!!!

NEO GEO Pocket? i Want NEO GEO Console Games Play like Samurai Showdown,Last Resort,Final Fight,Metal Slug....!

C'mon kid , buy yourself some humour and a pair of glasses ...

Dreamcast is NOT possible , I never say it would ! Just looking at the specs is enough said !Snes might even not be possible so DC is a complete no no ...

Tired of writing 3 times the same thing !

And playing a 16 Mhz Neogeo on a 2 or 3 Ghz Pc is not a sign of the emu being optimized .... Sorry for that !

Plus if you're one of these "PS2 kidz" pretending that everything not in Full 3d suck ass that's you're problem , I still think DC VMU emulation would be cool ! Anything emulation is cool by itself not that I wanna play a lot on Coleco or VCs2600 Emu , but having them emulated is cool by itself !
(though my favorites 2600 titles dont seem to work fine on the gp32 emu)
