My Mp Pandora

there are plenty of arcade games with 'good graphics'. The art in many of them is literally astounding, much better than anything the mainstream home consoles could pull of at the time. I really enjoy a lot of the arcade shumps, look up giga-wing. Also, If you've never played the arcade Metal Slugs you're really missing out.

When I was a kid, my family went on a cruise. My brothers and I spent every night playing Metal Slug in the arcade while our parents were in the casino. Good times.

Also, Craig is a tease. He could have showed dual analog action with Robotron: 2084. I know it's not really analog, but that required dual sticks.

EvilDragon's Pandora has arrived!

I went to a clan meet about 6 months ago, and as a swarm of nerds we descended upon an arcade which had nothing but old school machines, for the same original 25 cents! Playing through Simpson's, TMNT, some really old and awesome TRON based games. They really don't make 'em like they used to.

Nooo! Cliffhanger! Oh well; I guess I'm stuck waiting 'till Craig finishes the next one. :p

By the way, Craig, it occurred to me that I'd really like to see a two-player game in action, if you wouldn't mind, perhaps again with an external controller (bluetooth?). Maybe two-player Sonic and Knuckles or the like, to keep it simple? I know the Pandora is designed mainly as a single-person device, but there will be times when I'd probably like to load up something for two (or more!) people to play, particularly in combination with the TV-out capability. Anyway, just an idea if you're so inclined (and since you may well have guests soon!). :)

Interesting it will be possible to emulate, on a single Pandora, Amiga games which required two Mice.

Has that ever been done before?

That sounds really exciting! I don't know much about the Amiga, but I know that running more than one mouse on modern operating systems is...a challenge, to say the least. I've tried a few times, both on Windows and Linux, and I've not succeeded yet. You need all this additional software and so forth that I guess I'm just not tech-savvy enough to set up properly; in addition, it's a feature that not very many people seem to be too into developing for, at least based on my searches for solutions.

Actually, any recent Linux distribution (meaning it has X11R7.5) can do multiple mice easily out of the box (requires running only two commands). MPX is pretty awesome ... I hope applications start supporting it soon.

Really? Man, I'm behind the times then! I knew there was some development going on for multiple mice in X, but the last time I looked it up, I think it was just sort of hanging on as an incomplete external applet or something. I'll look into that!

* Multi-Pointer X (MPX) provides the user with multiple independent
mouse cursors and multiple independent keyboard foci. Each cursor is a
true system cursor and different pointers can operate in multiple
applications simultaneously.

... but, seriously, who needs two mice? Gee, Bill.

A good question, really; in my case, an example would be that two mice on the same PC allows two people to use creative software packages like the GIMP, for example, or Blender, at the same time. Collabs, and so forth (at least in theory, assuming the software can be made to work with that). I have a friend who lives a ways away, so we were trying to see if we couldn't do something like that over TightVNC and the like. As well, some hotseat multiplayer games would really benefit from multiple mice (again, Cortex Command, among others).

Besides, dual-wielding gives me +5 DEX on my file management rolls.

Hardcore hackers use two mice. Have you never seen Jurassic Park? Unix was hardcore in that movie. MOAR MICE.

Nay, truly hardcore hackers move the cursor with their minds!

When they aren't using Vi, anyway. ;)

I...I think I've seen that photo somewhere...it'd have been hard to forget all those pink daisies...

Now I don't think anyone will be surprised when this guy releases the USB Mouse Morningstar.

Midnight resistance in the arcade used to use 2 controls. 1 stick and a 360 degree dial for gun movement, that would work beautifully on the pandora analogues.

As for n64 vids, I'd love to see some pilotwings64 :)
