Mould Creation Time

I suppose it would depend where you work, too. Where I used to work the whole office would be around my desk after I burst out laughing uncontrollably.

I shudder to think, but that's one link I have no intention of following.

Ever.

See? We CAN practise self control! Curiosity? Hah! Got it beat with fear!!!

Practice self control? What are you talking about? You just made a post of almost nothing but blank lines for no apparent reason. I find that to be much more obnoxious than obscure soft core porn.

I am SO sorry.

Plus, of course, I have no idea what you'd posted as I exercised self control and did not give in to curiosity and look. So - it's soft porn. Great.Glad you've got a sense of humour after all.

8 day delay because of chinese holiday, we'll find out in 8 or 10 days I guess :p

I know that much. But Craig said they may try to get 105 before the holiday. Is there any news on that?

Really? Have you been reading the same forum as me? The one where people complain that the Pandora technology isn't bleeding-edge any more, and that it doesn't beat an iPhone or an Archos or a such-and-such and so they are losing interest? The one where people are planning to make and upload, to youtube, UNPACKING VIDEOS! (or unboxing videos, or whatever it is).

The reason a rolex enhances your social status is because people in your target crowd think they are desireable. A Pandora won't appeal to them (or I dare say Gucci bag owners clubs) but they certainly are desireable elsewhere - it's just a different group of people, is all.

Your back-tracking is unconvincing. Oh - and a fake Pandora in an actual Pandora case, as made by the Pandora case manufacturers from the same mould, would actually look real enough, which is the priority at least from the hypothetical sellers point of view.

I don't know what you mean by back-tracking, nor do I know how well a fake Rolex functions or what its durability might be, but I don't think the comparison is valid because a lot of the value of Rolex stems from the same non-conventional needs as having a Porsche in your garage or any other luxury item whose value depends a lot on the image and reputation rather than just form and function. Pandora in its current state doesn't have this aura of excellence that extends beyond all practicality, and is priced depending more on the actual manufacturing costs than an optimization of "How much can we rip off these people now that we have a loyal target group with too much cash?".

Pirated copies (or just clones) may also spread the awareness of the original, which can reach individuals that have bought a clone but are disappointed with its cheap nubs and construction, but can afford the real thing. If someone can't afford a real Pandora, buying the clone isn't away from the OP team, just from the ignorant/stupid/poor consumer and the environment.
Can we can all assume you've never owned a Porsche either and this is just another example of qualifying your expert opinions with examples of things you have no experience or first hand knowledge of?

Why do people keep talking about cars and watches?
When you buy a Rolex or a Porsche, it's true that the quality is higher than that of a standard product, but most of the price difference is because of the brand. With a Pandora, you are paying for the product and for a decent amount of profit. It's not like Craig could take 1500% profit like some manufacturers do.

There will be no Pandora clones with Texas Intruments boards and I highly doubt someone would be able to develop a board from scratch which could perform half as well as the OMAP does without spending a significant amount of money.

Just let me know when the damned thing is done, and when I can expect it in the post - that was I can stop getting my hopes up reading these inane threads

Presumably because people keep not listening. No-one has suggested that anyone would produce a cheaper clone that was as good as the Pandora - except for people trying to say that no-one would buy a fake ANYTHINg. I have been mooting the possibility that, if given access to the factory that makes Pandora clones, a company COULd potentially make something that LOOKS like a Pandora but is infinately inferior, thus damaging Pandora's reputation (among other possibilities).

Wait wait wait. Pandora doesn't enhance social status? I think we are looking at two different things here. I just show pictures of the Pandora to women and they're all, "Take me now!"..."Oh! Fortran!"

+1

The first thing my girlfriend asked after we kissed was "Is it really true that you are on the pre-order list of the Pandora?"

This is obviously why there is a reluctance to publish a 'place in line' list of preorders. The hierarchy this would create would lead to an uneven distribution of fanatical supermodel groupies.

Hmm, it might not be a of a public interest but how are the cases going to be shipped?

since it has such a large volume, wouldnt the cost of sending it pretty high?
