Not sure if this even deserves a thread of it's own, but with the release hopefully being pretty close, I thought it might be interesting to read what the media/blogs/whatever has to say.

If you come across any other reports feel free to post them here and discuss what they had to say.

It's at the VERY top of the Engadget main page as one of their "Top Stories". It's nice that they like the project so much. :D

There seems to be some kind of idiot competition going on all over the internet. Engadget and other blogs comments are extremely hard to read, because of all those failed trolling attempts. But getting angry about that? No. It just causes pity.

I agree, but sometimes their just uninformed, good example is boot times. 9 times out of 10 you'll never be booting from cold (once one form or another of sleep is implemented)
Once it was explained he seemed happy enough.

Na-Noo, I agree that some are just uninformed, and btw, this thread is a good idea :)

i hope this is pinned as will be a good way to keep track of how much publicity the Pandora gets
good luck hope in a few months time this thread is bulging with links.
XD

Like Mali stated, idiot competition. There are people who thrive on the irritation of others, so they make ridiculous or uninformed comments just to try and start flame wars. It's an unfortunate side effect of the anonymous nature of the 'net. Luckily Engadget's new comment rating system hides downranked posts. :D

Not only that, but there's sure to be more development. The fact that the current image boots in that time doesn't mean it'll always be that way. Not the best advert to see such a slow boot, but we know that a lot of work is yet to be done.

I wonder, not to start any conspiracy theories, if any of those posts are plants.
Clever companies always keep an eye on the competition and news blogs, and some the comments from unverified authors promote the PSP and DS.
For instance on Engadged, 2 posts within 4 minutes by an unverified author, one saying "It looks like a DS" then "I don't think these will ever ship".
Seems like they'd post something more trolly if they were wanting to piss people off.

Or could be bad trolls, whatever, just my 2 pennys.

I would guess people who have an axe to grind before competetion, honestly. There are plenty of people with personal animosity towards the OP project from what I gather.

First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win.

I just composed a new thread in the Off-Topic forum section.

"I don't think these will ever ship" is pretty trolly if you ask me. It's obvious by the picture that it's about ready to go and they post something like that. "It looks like a DS" is fine. It does. Just has one screen, that's all. "That looks craptacular. So who was waiting for one of these again?" is another troll post.

Open Pandora First Unit Complete, Finally! on slashdot - http://slashdot.org/recent

Hardly a media report, but Charles Stross, a Scottish science fiction writer who occasionally blogs about gadgets, seems to be following the progress of Pandora development. In fact, given that he often blogs about related devices - and most importantly, as a Linux user and someone who understands what the device stands for, OP could probably do worse than sending him a review unit.

Not a media report, but the after effects of. Youtube honours for MWeston's latest video, single digits bolded, most interesting one redded.
